About Migrant Workers Centre (MWC)

Set up in 2009, the Migrant Workers’ Centre (MWC) is a bipartite initiative of the National Trades Union Congress (NTUC) and the Singapore National Employers Federation (SNEF). The MWC is a non-government organisation whose mission is to champion fair employment practices and the well-being of migrant workers in Singapore.

Job Responsibilities:

• Provide assistance to migrant workers referred by the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) in order to meet their needs for temporary housing and food while MOM resolves their cases.
• Meet the needs of distressed migrant workers by providing for temporary shelter, sustenance or any other urgent needs while their grievances are resolved through the statutory recovery processes.
• Provide advice and case representation services to aggrieved migrant workers.
• Champion the migrant worker cause through public advocacy.
• Build good relationships with stakeholders such as MOM, other government agency partners and other migrant NGOs.
• Assess claims made by migrant workers, provide the necessary advice and action, as well as escalate legitimate claims cases to the authorities for conciliation and enforcement.
• Monitor progress of cases till closure (i.e. point of repatriation, or transfer of employer) and ensure proper documentation.
• Assess requests involving migrant workers and make recommendations to the MWC’s management and trustees.
• Support MWC in other areas when the need arises.
• Other additional projects as assigned

Requirements:

• Degree in any discipline

Overall Job Objective

Responsible to provide excellent customer service for smooth logistics operations (freight forwarding and supply chain/haulage).

Core Responsibilities

1) To handle and prepare shipping documentations (e.g. Bill of Ladings, Sea waybill, Air waybill etc.) and shipment-related operations.

2) To manage customers’ shipments in all areas, including but not limited to the following:-

- Update customers on shipment status and addressing customers’ enquiries on shipment movement and arrangement.

- Liaise with customers to obtain necessary information for shipping documentation generation.

- Enter shipment data in freight management software system (Sysfreight), and open/close job files with all information in place.

- Follow up on any outstanding payments by customers.

- To coordinate closely with other vendors/shipping lines/overseas forwarding agents to ensure smooth arrival and delivery of customers’ shipments.

- To provide necessary support to the Freight Sales Department to assist in addressing customers’ enquiries and preparing quotations (where necessary)

- To adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and Key Performance Index (KPI) set by the company to meet customers’ needs and expectations

Job Description:

• Prepare piping/ structural material specifications, prepare MTOs C/w end connection fitting details, male connectors, JIC NPT etc for Piping systems.
• Perform detail engineering and design of new piping installation on board Drilling rigs.
• Generate/ review detail piping & structural drawings for submission to Classification Society for approval and for production/installation on board.
• Evaluate/ review Structural Analysis, Loading Calculations, pressure drop/ friction loss calculation and drawings.
• Respond to classification comment to expedite design approval.
• Prepare piping and pump specifications inclusive of specifications for piping arrangement, piping support standards.
• Prepare equipment layouts and assist in drafting yard layout plans.
• Study scope of work, overall project schedule, basic design data, client specifications, drawings and plot plan.
• Prepare piping information list, layout and document list following standard procedure.
• Provide field engineering support/ advice towards piping installation and testing on board.
• Provide related technical & documentation support to customers.
• Plan and work along with design subcontractors/ vendors for accurate delivery schedule and update project team to communicate to customer. Update commercial and construction team when MTO is completed for initiating procurement.
• Communicate and liaise with customers, principals and other involved parties’ procurement staffs. during projects execution till completion of the project to facilitate and completion of the services to meet client’s requirement and satisfaction.
• Effectively deal with clients, class and vendors. Familiar with International rules and standards like ASME, API, etc.
• Prepare day to day reports & update project master schedule with engineering progress.
• Prepare Engineering meeting minutes and disseminate every week to all personals related to the assigned project.
• Any other tasks as and when assigned by management.

Job Specification :

• Minimum 5 years of experience in Rig Construction & Shipyard experience with Diploma or Degree in Mechanical or Equivalent.
• Skills in Design and Engineering of Piping systems preferred.
• Experience of checking onboard piping systems or other system, preparation of P & ID for piping systems preparation and review of piping layout, manage to update drawings and deliverables.
• Experience in making piping design calculation like pipe sizing, wall thickness, pressure drop, pump head, air receiver, deluge firefighting system capacity, inert gas system capacity study would be an added advantage.
