This role requires good organizational/coordination skills and execution/control of marine package engineers. Direct contact with the client and vendors will be necessary. The principal role of the Senior Marine Engineer is to:
- Support planning, definition, award and manage Marine Package Vendor’s technical deliverables and equipment delivery, as well as their timely issuance to support construction and integration activities.
- Ensure feedback of information from marine package vendors into the marine systems designs and vice versa.
- Support planning and definition of refurbishment & life extension scope of work related to Marine Packages and Systems. This activity involves site inspection of the candidate vessel and existing documentation gathering and cataloguing.
- Ensure compliance with Client basis of design and corporate specifications.
- Support preparation and interface with client and maintain a deviation request list with regards to all Client specifications.
- Support preparation of project-specific discipline-related technical specifications and drawings with regards to all Client, Company and Classification Society requirements.
- Ensure that all vendors meet the contractual, Classification Society and technical requirements related to marine engineering.
- Assist to ensure input into marine engineering registers/lists, using input from the vendors.
- Assist in interface engineering registers, P&IDs, calculations and drawings.
- Ensure compliance with Safety Studies recommendations and best practices.
- Assist trouble-shooting during construction, mechanical completion, pre-commissioning and commissioning, through to start-up, and including during operating regime.
- Travel as required, including but not limited to shipyards in SE Asia region, China, Middle East region, other Yinson Offices (Oslo, Malaysia), candidate vessels (onshore/offshore), operational production units (offshore) and onshore support bases.
- Support preparation of RFQ specifications for Marine Packages and Engineering. Conduct technical bid evaluation of vendor proposals and support the procurement department in vendor selection.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- Ensure that costs to Yinson are minimized and that project schedule is maintained.
- Assist in managing the Marine Equipment Vendors. Follow-up and monitor Contractor schedule and progress and ensure any deviation is mitigated by corrective action coordinated with YP team.
- Interact with Client as required.
- Support execution of the marine engineering scope of work in accordance with the legal obligations, contract terms, scope of work, technical requirements and company policy.
- Interact with and support the engineering contractors as required (including Marine Engineering, Hull Engineering, Topsides Engineering, Integration Engineering, LQ Engineering, Shipyard Engineering, EIT Engineering, etc).
- Achieving resolution of multi-discipline equipment problems by coordinating with other discipline engineers and project engineering management team.
- Update job knowledge by tracking and understanding emerging methodology improvements; and absorbing new practices from clients and partners.
- Engineering problem solving and troubleshooting, even when not directly in own discipline (taking a holistic approach to the project).
- Assist to coordinate discipline issues between client, contractors, vendors and other relevant parties.
- Assist to provide input to weekly/monthly progress reporting and other relevant status information as needed.
- Plan and execute ITP activities at Contractors/sub-contractors fabrication/manufacturing sites including FAT attendance and punch clearance inspections.
- Participate in audits and review processes as necessary.
- Interact with non-technical disciplines as required (document control, cost control, planning).
- Other tasks as requested by the Engineering Manager and Discipline Lead.
- QHSSE Duties – every employee shall:
o Take care of themselves and others who may be affected by
their acts or oversights;
o Not interfere with or misuse anything supplied for their health
safety and welfare;
o Report quality related problems and HSSE hazards or deficits
within their area to the QHSSE department;
o Promote and take part in the QHSSE continuous improvement
process.
Requirements
- Good use of Word and Excel.
- Good use of Navisworks.
- Able to write Technical Reports.
- Experience of FPSO projects.
- Experienced in Marine Packages (7-years).
- Proven experience of reviewing & commenting on deliverables from vendors.
