The Centre for Outbreak Preparedness (“COP”) at Duke-NUS was launched in June 2022, with a vision to enhance regional health security across Asia - with major focus on supporting low-and-middle income countries across the region. A key pillar of COP’s efforts is to support the Asia Pathogen Genomics Initiative (“Asia PGI”) which was established to enhance genomic pathogen surveillance in 14 countries in Asia, and accelerate the new tool development to enhance outbreak response capacity. This includes novel technologies such as genomic sequencing, diagnostics, new therapeutics and vaccines. The position of a Research Fellow at COP will contribute to a new initiative – the Asia PGI Strategy Think Tank developed to support countries around key policy, regulatory, procurement and legal issues. ADVANCE ID is jointly funded by the Wellcome Trust and Singapore institutions including the Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health and Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore. The vision of the Network is to improve public health by developing the clinical evidence base for the prevention and treatment of drug-resistant infections. Its mission is to build and sustain a strategic clinical research network focused on most efficiently delivering locally relevant interventions for drug-resistant infections.

The Network aims to improve and strengthen clinical research capabilities in the region by acting as a platform to develop good principles and practices.
