Roles and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Deputy Finance Manager, the Senior Finance Analyst will play a key role in the Finance team to deliver the full spectrum of professional finance, tax and compliance activities to Woh Hup (WH) Group of companies. This position offers the opportunity to gain a deep expertise within the finance & tax function with the ability to work with senior stakeholders including those in joint ventures, banks, and government bodies, and to lead and drive business optimization projects from the planning through to implementation.

Given the dynamic nature of the business, the below is a non-exhaustive list of deliveries expected from the candidate. However, it covers the foundation responsibilities and capabilities that are required for the candidate to be successful in this role.

• Governance and compliance: Ensure compliance with local regulations and company policies. Participate in internal control review and follow-up on actions for gap closure.
• Corporate Income Tax: Prepare and review corporate income tax computations and tax related work for Singapore Corporate Income Tax (“CIT”) compliance. Coordinate the completion of any required tax compliance for the Group including follow up with internal contributors to ensure timely responses to requests and completion of tax filings. Contribute in development of tax control framework and processes to drive accuracy and efficiency in the direct tax compliance delivery.
• Indirect Tax: Preparing and reviewing GST returns prior to submission to IRAS. Conducting GST health checks on GST returns. Reviewing and providing advice on GST compliance processes. Assist in tax audits and queries from tax authorities. Assist Deputy Finance Manager in relation to Transfer Pricing compliance including planning of comprehensive tax and transfer pricing strategies for local and regional portfolios.
• Change management and growth opportunities: Support and shadow the Deputy Finance Manager for transformation and growth projects, e.g. but not limited to new business new ventures/expansion, supporting through providing finance and tax advice and initiatives to adopt new tax legislations and controls, mitigate risks and project managing implementation of new systems and digital transformation.

Skills and Requirements

• A degree in Finance/ Accountancy or its equivalent.
• Minimum 4 years of relevant experience and expertise across the spectrum of Finance/Tax competences with solid foundation in tax reporting / compliance, financial accounting, operational accounting and reporting, and working knowledge of IT systems implementations. Finance professional qualification and SAP knowledge preferred.
• Confident in managing large and complex data sets in Excel and in a wider digital environment. Able to assess data, extract insights from financial and accounting software and navigate between different types of digital tools to produce results. Continuously learning new and better ways to manage and analyze data to support business outcomes.
• They are an effective communicator with ability to gain the confidence of various internal and external parties building on strong knowledge and understanding of the business drivers, value and risk. The Role

This position will be responsible for tax compliance and managing all tax issues for the Group in the assigned region.

Job Responsibilities

• Manage the tax compliance matters and work with external consultants for Singapore and overseas jurisdictions.
• Provide advice on all tax matters including day-to-day tax planning and advisory / operational business support, review of commercial contracts and cross-border transactions, tax reporting, taxation due diligence.
• Manage tax technical support to regional and local finance teams and business units within the Group.
• Monitor and analyse the impact of proposed and newly enacted tax legislation on the business in the relevant jurisdiction.
• Identify tax efficient opportunities and assist with all aspects of tax strategy management, business acquisition and restructuring initiatives, tax efficient structuring and mitigation of tax risks.
• Support the tax provisioning process for the finance team.

Job Requirements

• Degree in Accountancy or its’ equivalent or any professional tax qualifications.

Summary

Reporting to Head of Tax (Asia Pacific), you will be providing senior level support and expert tax advisory to Asia Pacific (APAC) senior management for business support, M&A, tax technical and compliance matters as required.

As an Accountant, you will play a key role in managing the financial and statutory reporting function. Subject Matter Expert in Indian taxes

• Keep abreast in all Indian tax matters and update the Director Tax Asia Pacific and relevant stakeholders
• Support in all business initiatives involving Indian tax including but not limited to M&A and other business activities.

Structuring and Cross border transactions

• Tax structuring/Tax optimization process: Developing tax-saving strategies in the selected countries in collaboration with the Director of Tax Asia Pacific and Corporate Tax.
• M&A: Development of tailor-made finance and acquisition/divestment strategies in the selected countries in collaboration with the Director of Tax Asia Pacific and external advisors. Support in the M&A process and post-acquisition tax claims in the selected countries.

General tax matters

• In charge of the optimization and further development of process management and Tax Compliance Management System.

• Plausibility check of tax calculations (current and deferred taxes) of companies in the selected countries.
• Review of data entries for the region’s companies in GTC (Global Tax Center).
• Support colleagues in charge of tax reporting for the selected countries in case of any technical questions in connection with GTC or with basic problems with the calculation of current and deferred taxes for the companies in the selected countries.
• Reply to the Corporate Tax and Director Tax Asia Pacific questions regarding material aspects of tax calculations (current and deferred taxes) for the companies in the selected countries.

Job Requirement/Specification:

Education: Chartered Accountant; strong knowledge of direct and indirect tax in India, good accounting knowledge, experience in international tax, transfer pricing knowledge, and deferred taxes.

Experience: at least 3-5 years’ experience in Indian Taxation. Experience at an international group or accounting firm (Big Four).
