Marine Underwriter, APAC (Hull)
As an APAC Marine Underwriter, you will play a crucial role in being part of the growth journey of Sompo’s APAC Marine Practice. This will involve evaluating and underwriting large and complex risks for the Region. Assessing new areas of opportunities to achieve our ambition and maintaining a profitable and growing portfolio, and contributing to the overall success of the organization.
Responsibilities include:
- Focus on new business production and renewal retention across a high-growth Marine portfolio
- Underwrites all accounts in accordance with underwriting guidelines and individual underwriting authority
- Ensure underwriting processes are diligently complied with, focusing on key account information is captured on policy administration systems
- Monitor performance of existing accounts/portfolio, and identify/recommend areas for improvement
- Build and maintain strong relationships with Clients to enhance business retention and new business development
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to explore cross-sell opportunities where appropriate
- Role will include Marine Liability class across the APAC Region
Desired Skills & Experience:
- Relevant 3-5 years’ experience in marine hull underwriting/broking, with exposure to Brown Water/Offshore tonnage across the APAC region
- Experience in Builders Risk products beneficial
- Interest to learn Marine Liability class with guidance from APAC Head of Marine
- Ability to work effectively when in a pressured environment
- Strong problem solving and decision-making abilities
- Detail-oriented and organized disposition
- Competent in all Microsoft Product suites, with strong excel skills
