We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Vessel Manager to join our dynamic team at PIL. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in overseeing the day-to-day operations of assigned ships, maintaining asset value, ensuring statutory compliance, managing budgets, and providing timely technical assistance to ensure the seamless flow of business operations.
Key Responsibilities:
· Conduct at least two inspections per ship annually, including one sailing inspection.
· Evaluate deck condition and machinery performance monthly.
· Track fuel and lubricating oil excess consumption on a monthly basis using Tableau reports.
· Ensure vessel management completes Planned Maintenance System (PMS) activities in a timely manner.
· Oversee dockyard planning and selection according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
· Track and report on major projects and repairs daily, ensuring adherence to budgets and timelines.
· Monitor monthly spending on repairs, spares, projects, and consumables, providing justifications for unexpected expenses.
· Ensure vessels comply with Flag State inspections, Port State inspections, and statutory surveys, closing deficiencies within recommended deadlines.
· Act as the primary point of contact between ship and shore, managing situations with strong leadership skills.
· Participate in emergency situations and assist the Ship Emergency Response Team (SERT) with required technical information.
· Stay updated on industry trends and propose business cases for vessel upgrades or adoption of emerging technologies.
MUST HAVE:
· Graduate Engineer and/or holder of Certificate of Competency (COC) Class 1 (Unlimited Foreign Going).
· Experience in Dual Fuel (DF) Vessel management, new build vessel deliveries and has sailed as an Engineer on ships with DF propulsion systems.
· Diploma or Degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, or a related discipline.
· Experience as a Chief Engineer on ocean-going vessels, or as a Technical Superintendent/Vessel Manager.
· Strong knowledge of vessels’ technical requirements and voyage regulations.
· Excellent project management and negotiation skills.
· Digital fluency, including proficiency in Microsoft tools.
WE VALUE:
· Experience handling ships powered by low carbon fuels like Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) or Methanol.
· Knowledge of Planned Maintenance Systems and technical purchasing processes.
· Strong leadership and people management skills.
· Good communication skills, both written and spoken.
