The role of Sustainability Director is responsible for driving the business development and growth of CBRE’s ESG & Sustainability business through robust client relationships and engagement, sourcing new clients and revenue streams, overseeing the submission and pitch process, and developing new opportunities and business lines. The Director will ensure that our people are carrying out their duties in line with CBRE’s Core values aligned with the scope of services provided to the clients and seeking out additional opportunities for increased services to clients.
Working as part of a team, the Sustainability Director will be the key liaison between the client, client teams and our operational teams in the wider business, and will play a key role in the ongoing growth and development of the business by actively growing our client base and service offerings.
Responsibilities:
· Active business development to ensure a steady flow of new work / project opportunities into the ESG business, as well as ensuring a supply of downstream opportunities for the wider business
· Ongoing current and potential Client engagement and interactions to ensure projects are secured and delivered
· Market presence, and thought leadership, attending events, panel and providing thought leadership to ensure that CBRE is at the forefront of opportunities
· Oversee and manage the submission, pitch and presentation of new opportunities working with the relevant teams and resources
· Development of ongoing scope and range of services and growth into new areas of opportunities
· Oversee delivery of client requirements around sustainability projects ensuring that projects are managed well by our team and delivered within client expectations, scope and timeframes
· Work as part of the leadership team providing insights on People, Financial and Operational aspects of the ESG business, in close liaison and partnership with the Corporate Function teams.
· Ensure Fees are raised correctly, on time and paid within set timeframes. Provide monthly and or as required financial budgeting and forecasting, arrears following up and strong financial management of the day to day business operations.
· Undertake Performance reviews of the team, mentoring, management and leadership advice
· Develop training and educational services
· Engagement with vendors and wider stakeholders
· Communicate with global Sustainability teams, including contribution to regional initiatives and requirements
· Attend, lead and chair meetings both internal and external as required.
Qualification and Requirements:
· Bachelor or Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Sustainability, Environmental/Earth Sciences, Responsible Business) and/or comparable career experience built up over time (minimum of 10-15 years’ experience)
· Professional experience working in Sustainability & ESG Consulting focused on property and real estate
· Experience in a range of reporting tools and platforms
· Preferably LEED, and or Green Mark or WELL AP Qualified
· Excellent business development skills with the ability to prepare and present presentations as well as influence and overcome objections.
· Track record of managing successful teams and thriving in a team environment
