Safety and Supervision
- Ensure Passenger Safety: Monitor students or passengers to ensure they are following safety rules, including wearing seat belts if required, staying seated, and not engaging in disruptive behavior.
- Assist with Boarding and Disembarking: Help passengers get on and off the bus safely, including assisting younger children or those with disabilities.
- Emergency Procedures: Be prepared to handle emergencies, including evacuating the bus if necessary. Understand and be able to execute emergency protocols.
Behavioral Management
- Enforce Rules: Maintain discipline on the bus by enforcing rules and addressing inappropriate behavior calmly and effectively.
- Conflict Resolution: Handle minor disputes or issues between passengers, and report any serious problems to the appropriate authorities.
Communication
- Coordinate with Drivers: Work closely with the bus driver to ensure smooth operation, communicate any issues or concerns, and assist with navigation if necessary.
- Inform Parents and School Staff: Relay important information to parents or school staff about student behavior or safety concerns.
Documentation and Reporting
- Record Keeping: Maintain records of incidents, attendance, and any other relevant information as required by the school or transit authority.
- Incident Reporting: Document and report any accidents, injuries, or significant behavioral issues.
Miscellaneous Duties
- Assist with Special Needs: Help passengers with special needs, including those requiring physical assistance or specialized attention.
- Check Bus Conditions: Ensure the bus is clean and in good working order before and after routes, and report any maintenance issues.
Training and Compliance
- Training: Complete any required training or certification related to safety, first aid, or behavior management.
- Stay Updated: Keep abreast of any changes in regulations or procedures related to school transportation or public transit.
