Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for an Operation Manager (Container Depot) in Cogent Container Depot Pte Ltd. As an Operation Manager, you will be responsible to oversee the day-to-day operations of the container depot. Your tasks will include managing container handling and storage, coordinating with customers and suppliers, ensuring compliance with safety and operational guidelines, optimizing depot operations and leading a team of depot personnel.
- Responsible for all day to day depot operations
- Ensure equipment is in good working conditions and follow up on maintenance and repair, if any
- Ensure that shipping and leasing customer’s KPI are met
- Responsible for optimal yard planning, relocation and allocation of containers
- Ensure there is no delay at the gate and ensure smooth traffic flow at all times
- Discuss and report to superior on any enhancement made to daily operations
- Responsible for all outdoor tasks like container nomination, container measurement, make shifting arrangement etc.
- Attend to any additional services which are non-routine in nature (such as container door cannot open etc.)
- Manage subordinates to achieve operational and service excellence and cost effectiveness
- Report to superior if there is any dispute, accident and incident. Ensure the proper reporting and escalation of accident and their corrective/ preventive actions.
- Conduct toolbox meeting daily
- Attend the regular operations meeting with shipping agents to discuss operations work plan and implementation
- Keep track of fixed assets and ensure depot facilities are in good order
- Liaise with trucking team to improve trucking efficiency
- Regulate the importance and priority of every job order assigned to the operations team
- Liaise with vendor on container repairs/ washing issues and ensure that they complete their jobs on time to meet our customers’ requirement
- Ensure containers are repaired according to IICL/ cargo worthy standards or other customers’ criteria
- Identify safety hazards in operations areas and proactively eliminate any risks
- Ensure staff work safely in a safe workplace
- Any other duties and responsibilities assigned from time to time
Requirement
- Degree or Diploma in Logistics, Supply Chain Management or related field
- Minimum 5 years in container depot operations
- Strong knowledge and experience in container depot operations
- Responsible individual who is diplomatic and possess a high level of initiative and strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Possession of IICL certification is an advantage
