Job Description

The National University of Singapore invites applications for Research Associate (Data Scientist / Artificial Intelligence Specialist) in the Department of Biochemistry, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. Specifically, utilising data science approaches involving machine learning and artificial intelligence, A/Prof Gruber’s team focuses on the development and validation of biological ageing clocks for clinical translation and application, as well as for drug discovery in model organisms. Appointments will be made on a two-year contract basis, in the first instance, with the possibility of extension.

Purpose of the post

The successful candidate should have a strong background in advanced machine learning, artificial intelligence, and bioinformatics techniques with practical applications to biological / -omics data. Specifically, he or she will be responsible for data analysis and for developing advanced computational models, algorithms, and tools to analyse and interpret complex biological datasets derived from multi-omics data. The ideal candidate will combine a strong understanding of advanced statistical, and state-of-the-art artificial intelligence and machine learning methods, as well as expertise in programming languages such as R and/or Python with training in biology, biochemistry or a related discipline.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

The Research Associate will work with other team members to develop and validate biological ageing clock algorithms, and will be accountable to the Principle Investigator (PI). The Research Associate will be able to:

1. Develop and apply computational models, algorithms, and tools to analyse and interpret large-scale biological datasets (e.g. clinical, genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics);

Schedule:

As a forward-thinking organisation, we believe that productivity is not about clocking hours in the office. We offer a semi-flexi arrangement based upon mutual understanding and trust with our staff to encourage their peak performance.

Teachers can choose where, how and when they would like to work so long as they are on task, on time and on target.

This means you are required to be in the office only when you have classes or to attend meetings and training.

Job Description:

The APAC Education Specialist will play a pivotal role in supporting and managing educational initiatives across the Asia-Pacific region. This role requires a highly organized, detail-oriented individual with strong event management skills and the ability to coordinate complex logistics. The ideal candidate is also an effective communicator, fluent in both spoken and written Mandarin, to collaborate closely with stakeholders, especially as the primary host is based in China.

Key Responsibilities:

1. End-to-End Event Management:
   • Plan, organize, and execute educational events, including webinars, conferences, and training sessions, handling the process from start to finish.
   • Manage participant registration, scheduling, and virtual setup for regional webinars, ensuring seamless execution.
   • Coordinate logistics such as air travel, accommodations, and transportation, particularly for events involving overseas speakers.
   • Work closely with local agencies and vendors across APAC to ensure all logistical needs are met.
2. Webinar and Virtual Event Coordination:
   • Set up and manage regional virtual events, including technical setup, participant registration, and live event support.
   • Act as the primary point of contact for attendees and provide assistance during the event to ensure an optimal experience.
3. Logistics Coordination:
   • Coordinate all travel logistics, including air tickets, accommodations, and local transportation, especially for international speakers.
   • Collaborate with local agencies to streamline event logistics and ensure adherence to regional requirements.
4. Research and Content Curation:
   • Review, interpret, and summarize scientific research papers related to science and clinical topics.
   • Identify and highlight relevant insights from research papers, providing clear and concise summaries.
   • Prepare bi-monthly summaries of clinical research for internal use or presentation, ensuring accessibility of complex information.
5. Stakeholder Collaboration:
   • Work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders across the APAC region to identify educational needs and develop targeted content.
   • Ensure alignment of educational content with regional needs, maintaining strong communication with the host in China.
6. Program Effectiveness Evaluation:
   • Track and analyze the success of educational events and webinars, collecting feedback to improve future programs.

Qualifications:

• Detail-Oriented and Strong Follow-Through: Exceptional attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and ensure completion of all assigned responsibilities.
• Bilingual Proficiency: Excellent spoken and written communication skills, with the ability to converse in both English and Mandarin (Mandarin fluency is required for collaboration with China-based stakeholders).
• Proven Event Management Experience: Demonstrated success in managing educational or corporate training events, especially with international scope.
• Organizational and Logistical Skills: Strong ability to coordinate complex logistics, including international travel arrangements and event setup.

Executive Joint Committee on Specialist Training (JCST)

Location: Kim Keat Rd (Balestier)

Working days: 5 days (Mon - Fri)
Working time: 830am-6pm (Mon-Thurs) ; 830am - 530pm (Fri)
Salary: $3300 - $3600

Overview:

The Joint Committee on Specialist Training (JCST) is appointed by the Specialist Accreditation Board to oversee the accreditation of training departments and institutions in Singapore. The JCST is responsible for establishing and upholding the professional standards and quality of specialist training in Singapore including the evaluation of trainees' training and exit examinations.

Job Responsible:

• To provide secretarial support to the Specialist Training Committees/Residency Advisory Committee in monitoring and maintaining the training standards and deliverables

Requirement:

• Basic Degree in any discipline from a recognized University.
• Experience in providing administrative support and financial experience would be an advantage (but not essential).
• Good office skills in MS Office with experience in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint applications.
• Must be able to perform in an environment dictated by deadlines.
• Immediate availability is preferred
• Able to work beyond office hours and on weekends/Public Holidays for meetings and events. (Time off given)
