Position title: Global Lead WWF’s Carbon Finance and Markets Taskforce

This newly created role will be base in Singapore office.
Role Summary:
WWF is looking for an experienced and passionate individual to serve as the Global Lead for WWF’s Carbon Finance and Markets Taskforce. The Taskforce is co-led by WWF’s Forest Practice and Climate and Energy Practice to influence and promote best practices for carbon finance and markets around the world, and leverage credibly implemented carbon finance to protect and enhance WWF priority landscapes, seascapes and watersheds. The Taskforce leads on WWF’s positions on carbon finance and markets, including a blueprint for corporate action on climate and natureand guidance for high-quality climate investments for climate, nature and people. We are looking for a leader to help galvanize WWF’s existing work on carbon finance, further increase our internal capacity and ramp up our influence externally.
Four task teams enable the work of the Taskforce - a Demand Task Team, a Policy Task Team, a Supply Task team and an Expertise Hub. The Global Lead, Carbon Finance and Markets Taskforce is accountable to the Carbon Markets and Finance Core Team, supported by an Advisory Group.
The role will be based in Asia and will have an additional responsibility to help build capacity in the host office and across the wider Asia region.
Main Responsibilities:
• Provide strategic leadership for WWF’s work on carbon finance and markets, and delivery of its goals and outcomes and promote strategic alignment with WWF Office and Practice Strategic Plans; this includes but is not limited to:
• serving the network to advance thinking on carbon finance and markets topics and develop specific services/products for the network.
• consolidating WWF’s understanding of the potential and limits of market mechanisms in science-based net zero strategies.
• mainstreaming the contribution approach to BVCM by strengthening its conceptual clarity and commercial appeal, including claims;
• Coordination of direct support to NbS for climate mitigation interventions involving WWF (as required) by access to general operational and policy guidance (based on existing WWF guiding material) and organizing advisory sessions for case specific guidance;
• Build capacity in the Asia region and home office and support local and regional project development;
• Working with the Expertise Hub Lead to build project development, implementation, monitoring, reporting and climate finance marketing capacity across the WWF Network - execution through need assessment surveys, curated trainings modules, case studies, webinars/seminars and liaison with WWF’s knowledge management team;
• Coordination with linked nominees from NbS programs/practices and identify new partnerships and linkages;
• Serve as an internal and external representative for WWF’s work on carbon finance and markets championing the program and its benefits to key stakeholders and potential partners, this includes but is not limited to:
• leading the development of an external advocacy strategy and support implementation to increase WWFs external influence on carbon finance and markets.
• building a coalition of external partner organizations willing to further develop and anchor the contribution approach to climate finance in methods, standards, regulations, products etc.
• creating visibility for WWF’s corporate carbon finance and market work and offers through case studies, webinars/seminars and participation in key global forums.
• working with communication teams to develop products to profile the priorities and work of the Carbon Finance and Markets Task Force and ensure all external communication, information sharing, and data is robust and aligned with strategic objectives;
• Manage technical and financial management including annual work planning, budgeting, monitoring and reporting;
Required Qualifications and Experience:
• Demonstrated experience leading and growing successful, impactful advocacy/policy as well as field programs, with experience in managing multidisciplinary teams, and working within complex organisations that span many countries and cultures;
• 10 years progressively senior professional work experience related to nature-based solutions for climate change mitigation, together with experience in working in some of the following fields: forestry, conservation, policy, environment, sustainable development, forest or deforestation-related agricultural commodity supply chains;
• Graduate degree in environmental science, sustainability, forestry or any climate change and carbon mitigation-related field, a master’s degree is a plus;
• Experience in partnership management, fundraising and marketing are critical to the role.

• Demonstrated experience in building relations and partnerships with various stakeholders - internally and externally;
• Excellent English written and oral skills and ability to inspire others and translate complex and technical information into compelling narratives;

• Willingness to travel and work flexible hours with some calls outside office hours to accommodate timezones.
