Microsoft’s Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) is the engine that powers our cloud services. As a CO+I Senior Datacenter EPC Integrated Planner and Scheduler, you will perform a key role in delivering the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's online services including Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive, and the Microsoft Azure platform. Responsibilities
As an individual contributor you will be responsible for overseeing the planning, scheduling, execution, and delivery of large-scale datacenter construction projects, from inception to completion. The ideal candidate will have experience in datacenter design, procurement, and construction, with a proven track record of delivering projects on time and to the satisfaction of clients. The role requires exceptional leadership and communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to achieve organizational goals.
You will be responsible to lead project planning and scheduling activities. This includes performing review of contractor scheduling compliance for consistency and alignment with Microsoft requirements. You will perform the general tasks specified below, as directed by your Manager.
Planning:
- Develop and oversee the implementation of project plan and schedule, including timelines, and resource requirements, for large-scale datacenter construction projects.
- Manage service providers, cross-functional teams, including engineers, procurement, and construction across different time zones to ensure project milestones are met and deliverables are completed on time.
- Monitor project risks and develop contingency plans to mitigate potential issues.
- Work with clients to understand their needs and ensure project outcomes meet their expectations.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.
- Continuously improve project management processes and tools to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
- Conduct planning workshops.
- Carry out EPC planning using company systems, procedures and prior experience in scheduling and planning engineering, supply chain, and construction functions.
- Create an end-to-end medium/large capital project schedule with interdependent tasks using MS Project and/or P6
- Produce the corporate reports in a timely manner.
- Support APAC manager in corporate schedule management.
- Attend meetings, provide value addition, key decisions.
- Proactively liaise with project stakeholders to resolve issues, deliver deliverables timely and perform to meet the KPI measurement.
- Proactively analyse project schedules including comparing curves to actuals, tracking float consumption, and change order impact analysis.
- Validate schedule updates along with a basis of schedule narrative.
- Identify, advise on critical schedule activities, change, impacts to schedule, change orders, project progress, and claim analysis.
- Facilitate assessment of schedule compression and forensic analysis to identify cause and effect of delays.
- Awareness of contract requirements and advice when scope / execution is not aligned with obligations.
- weekly dashboards/ reports as required.
- Ensure schedule quality checks are conducted and corrective and preventive actions taken.
Project Management:
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring that each project meets its objectives and is delivered on time.
- Develop and implement project management processes and tools to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
- Provide regular project updates and reports to senior management and other stakeholders.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
- 10+ years of experience in construction project management and planning, scheduling.
- 10+ years of experience in planning and scheduling medium sized capital projects ($50MM USD - $200MM+ USD) in data center, oil and gas or chemicals (or related process industry). This experience should specifically include engineering and procurement, with specific examples of integrated construction planning.
- Excellent understanding of Project Planning, scheduling, Earned Value Management and Key Commodity Tracking.
- Deep Knowledge of project planning software, such as P6 and/or MS Project and CPM scheduling methodology
- Ability to analyze EPC plans and schedule and provide deep insights into trends, issues, mitigations
- Good verbal, written communication skills in English
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to deliver high-quality work.
- Experience in managing teams and working collaboratively with cross-functional groups.
Preferred:
- Familiarity with Schedule Risk Analysis
- Proven track record of delivering large-scale datacenter construction projects on time and to the satisfaction of clients.
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check every two years thereafter.
