Senior Optomechanics Engineer

The Senior Optomechanics Engineer is responsible for design and performance improvements of opto-mechanical systems at Transcelestial, specifically our ground-based laser communication devices. This position is part of the Hardware Team, led by Max, Transcelestial’s Head of Hardware Engineering. This position will also interact with the rest of the hardware, manufacturing and software design teams to assist with the overall development of the optical systems and new optical alignment technologies. This role will also help the organisation handle supply chain activities for mechanical parts, including liaising with suppliers.

As Senior Optomechanics Engineer, you will:

• Perform electro-mechanical and opto-mechanical engineering on multiple projects through all phases of development and manufacturing.
• Evaluate and improve the optical alignment processes used in manufacturing of laser communication devices.
• Carry out tasks including incorporating Design for Excellence (DFx) into opto-mechanical system design to support transition from development to production.
