The School of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE), which is under the College of Engineering, aspires to be a leading school for Sustainable Urban Systems. Currently, it has over 50 faculty members and more than 1,500 students, and is rapidly expanding its range of educational and research activities. Its faculty has led major university-wide strategic research thrusts in space creation, water research, sustainable built environment and future driven maritime research. Going forward, CEE is addressing critical problems in urban systems such as building structures and energy systems, sustainability of urban cities, and resiliency to natural and unnatural risks.
The Maritime Studies Programme stands as one of the largest programmes in CEE and holds the distinction of being Singapore's largest maritime studies programme. It is rapidly expanding to maintain Singapore’s position as the leading global port hub and international maritime centre. The programme also endeavours to support Singapore’s maritime industry in its effort on decarbonisation and digitalisation. NTU also houses the Maritime Energy & Sustainable Development Centre of Excellence (MESD) which primarily focuses energy management, emission management, and sustainable maritime operations.
To fuel further development, we invite applications for Associate Professor (Practice-track) position in the following areas of Maritime Studies. The role encompasses a focus on practical application of knowledge, teaching real-world skills, and often brings industry experience into the classroom. It also includes facilitating connections with industry, leveraging personal industry experience, and fostering partnerships with companies for educational and research programmes.
Applicants must possess at least a master's degree in related disciplines from reputable institutions, with a PhD being advantageous. The expertise sought encompasses various facets of the maritime industry, including maritime finance and financial modelling, shipping management, global strategy and risk analysis, maritime regulations, maritime data analytics, international trade and brokering, and maritime logistics. Ideal candidates should demonstrate a strong track record in leadership roles and possess a minimum of 20 years of industry experience within the above specified domains. In addition, good ability/potential in teaching and training must be evident. Evidence of service and scholarship in the form of, but not limited to, good quality publications, impactful creative works or patents, shall be an advantage.
