Department of Geography: Manager / Assistant Senior Manager (Geographic Information Systems)

The Department of Geography at the National University of Singapore (NUS) is inviting applications for a Manager / Assistant Senior Manager in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to provide support to the GIS Unit and its GIS educational programmes. The GIS Unit spearheads the research, training and applications of GIS in the Department and aims to extend beyond the academic realm to foster an Asia-focused GIS ecosystem with global reach. The Department is the leading centre in Singapore for GIS research and teaching, hosting comprehensive geospatial and other laboratory facilities. It currently runs three GIS educational programmes based upon a diverse range of courses; the MSc in Applied GIS and Graduate Certificate in Applied GIS at graduate level and the GIS Minor at undergraduate level. Plans are underway to complement the three existing programmes with a Graduate Diploma in Applied GIS (thereby creating a fully-stackable MSc degree in Applied GIS) and a Professional Certificate in Applied GIS.

Key Responsibilities:

• Business Development. Generate, qualify and cultivate corporate leads, and convert corporates looking to drive business innovation within their organisations. This includes sourcing leads through working with partners to curate exclusive events or programmes targeted at innovators and decision makers.
• Business Engagement. Qualify inbound leads including referrals by acting as initial point of triage for corporates with interest in OIP to diagnose their basic innovation needs. • Stakeholder Management and Matching. Scout, own and deepen relationships with new corporates and multipliers (e.g. government agencies, trade associations) to build the corporate database. • Partnership Development: Identify, source and engage existing or new strategic partners through lead follow-up to achieve Innovation team’s objectives (e.g. securing more corporate leads for OIP and/or developing partner-led tech showcases to inspire corporates)

Requirements:

• Tertiary qualification in Business/Information Technology/Engineering or relevant/related disciplines
• At least 5 years of relevant experience in an industry engagement, B2B business development or consultancy role, with immediate and large business networks
• Adept at engaging external stakeholders across seniority levels, and building business networks
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; with strong analytical and conceptual thinking skills
