Brighton College (Singapore) is seeking to appoint a Teacher of PE (Senior School), to start in August 2024. The successful candidate will play a key role in the growth of the school. They will facilitate the delivery of a wide range of opportunities for all Senior School pupils to be involved in the sporting life of the school and will nurture the talents of the top athletes. As a teacher of physical education, they will also be responsible for the development of a PE curriculum that delivers both an outstanding learning experience for pupils and top academic outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the provision and administration of a rich and varied programme of co-curricular PE and Games.
• Organise and run a range of sports teams for Senior School pupils.
• Oversee, recruit and induct (as required) any specialist sports coaches needed to support Senior School sport.
• Devise a Senior School calendar of sporting fixtures and competitions running throughout the year, coordinating closely with the Prep School staff.
• Take responsibility for the teaching, progress and attainment of all pupils in Years 7 to 9 from August 2024, and for all other senior year groups in the following years.
• Lead on all aspects of curriculum planning and delivery, including preparation for the first IGCSE Year 10 cohort starting in August 2025.
• Lead on all aspects of assessment, tracking and reporting for academic PE.
• Demonstrate the experience and ability to teach PE across all relevant Key Stages .
• Act as an outstanding classroom practitioner, with the ability to lead by example.
• Devise and implement rigorous self-evaluation processes.
• Promote excellence, creativity and innovation in all areas of the PE curriculum.
• Demonstrate commitment to continuous professional development.
• Demonstrate the experience and expertise needed to support pupils in future years with applications to study Sports Science and related degrees at competitive universities.
• Work closely with the Heads of EAL and AEN to develop pathways for pupils requiring additional support.
• Develop the required curriculum and department documentation, both for current and prospective parents.
• Support the Head of Admissions on the assessment of sporting ability at entry to the Senior School (if required).
• Contribute to the highest standards of safeguarding and to the school’s pastoral system, acting as a tutor for a Senior School year group.
• Any other reasonable management request.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in a sport-related subject, with PGCE or equivalent.
• Expert knowledge or experience of successfully delivering GCSEs/IGCSEs (with A-level experience preferred but not essential).
• International experience (preferred but not essential)
