With the guidance of the Associate Director or others in the team, responsibilities will include design strategy, concept design and the production of detailed working drawings.

Key Responsibilities

• Actively seek inspiration and references from sources outside of the business to support creative design solutions.
• Source reference and carry out research to illustrate a design direction to the clients, working with architects and graphic designers in the project team.
• Produce basic concept work using hand sketches or variety of digital and traditional media to a high standard.
• Assist in assembling presentations using a variety of digital and traditional media, particularly Adobe InDesign.
• Produce, under supervision, drawing packages for Schematic and Detail Stages.
• Source reference material and carry out research to ensure that materials and products are fit for purpose.
• Produce, under supervision, furniture and finishes schedules.
• Build knowledge of markets, our clients and their competitors.
• As directed, responsible for some basic project communication, including liaising with contractors, design & construction team and written communications.
• Assist with recording design team or site meetings either by minutes, letters, emails or file notes.
• Provide support to any more junior team members.

Skills & Experience Required

• Degree in Interior Design or Architecture or Design related discipline.
• Experience working on Concept, Schematic and/or Detailed stage in Interior Design projects.
• Experience of large format environments would be beneficial.
• Creative thinker with quick concept communication skills.
• Ability to create a concept, from a brief (under direction where required).
• Ability to think through design problems and outstanding attention to detail.
• Advanced software skills, including both 2D and 3D software capabilities: Adobe Creative Suite, Autocad, SketchUp or an alternative 3D package such as Rhino. Revit would be beneficial.
• Demonstrate a basic knowledge of materials and their application.
• Good communication and organisational skills with the ability to communicate with suppliers.
• Team player with collaborative work ethic. Proactive and conscientious.
• Keen to learn and develop skills and a genuine interest in design.

About the Role

As a Senior Architectural Designer you manage mid-scale, or aspects of large-scale Singapore and South East Asia architectural projects in the commercial mixed use sector through all aspects of design and development.

Design/Technical Expertise

• Deliver high quality design and technical work, engaging others with their creative and innovative thinking.

Project Management

• Demonstrate a detailed understanding of the design process and project brief, coordinating the preparation of the project deliverables and other activities related to the project development.
• Take responsibility for quality control and supervision of project deliverables.
• Coordinate and integrates the work of external contractors, suppliers and professionals.

Team Management

• Build a network across the business and seeks leadership opportunities by directing and supporting junior team members.

Client Relationships

• Develop effective relationships with clients and consultants.
• Support senior colleagues with client presentation, making a positive contribution towards project meetings and client engagements.

Budget Control

• Take responsibility for aspects of the project budget, and liases with stakeholders to ensure delivery.
• Seek to develop a working understanding of cost control, fee charging and project finance, and considers how project fees are maximised without threat to client relationship and repeat work

About You

• You are a talented designer, with a portfolio that showcases great creativity and innovative thinking.
• You have 5+ years post qualification experience of successfully delivering mid to large-scale projects.
• You are proficient in computer applications commonly used within your discipline and will be a competent Revit user.
• With strong organisational and supervisory skills, you have a proven ability to manage projects and people to deliver great results.
• A strong communicator, you are able to effectively engage internal and external stakeholders.
• You are degree qualified in related design field or hold equivalent certification; professional registration is preferred.
