You will participate in the specification, design and design maintenance of high-tech mechanic system solutions for professional mechatronic equipment, and enable optimal functionality and cost effective engineering of those systems. You are a highly talented and ambitious engineer with a bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering. VDL offers a dynamic working environment with opportunities to travel abroad. You will participate in the following phases for system (re)design projects:

• Quotation Phase: create a plan with scope, cost and lead time estimation together with the project team and the customer
• Feasibility phase: consolidate customer requirement specifications into an investigation of the feasibility of mechanical concepts
• Definition Phase: develop Description of System Design Requirements and Specifications.
• System Design Phase: generation of system design concepts and reviews

1. Develop well-considered choices, validated against system requirements
2. Definition of high level modules and related technical interfaces
3. Monitor that projects stay within agreed specifications
4. Make use of your creativity and helicopter view to find solutions in case of conflicts.

• Detail Phase: create 3-D models and drawings
• System integration and verification: verify design / the chosen concept on the requirements by means of functional models or (pre-)proto production
• Production release: release the design for production

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Electrical or Electro-mechanical engineering, preferably with a focus on motion systems
• At least 7 years of relevant working experience (semicon or similar)
• Knowledge of electric design principles of cabling, connectors, safety systems, electronic racks, PCB design
• User of 3D design tools and schematic drawing tools (e.g. NX, SolidWorks, E-Plan)
• Basic programming skills and ability to debug electrical systems
• Understanding of motion control systems
• Helicopter view, abstract thinking and ability to think out-of-the box
• An effective communicator
• Deep understanding and experience in the different design phases ranging from conceptual design up to Proto- and Pilot evaluation
• Experience in multidisciplinary projects, knowing interdependency between electrical, electromechanical and mechanical (sub)systems
• Fluent in English, both speaking and writing
• Willingness to travel overseas and cooperate with the European mother company

Under direct supervision, provides technical and operational expertise to external customer in a professional manner. This is the entry level position for this discipline. Regulatory Engineer is a skilled professional who can understand and apply product safety, EMC and RF standards to meet product regulatory and compliance requirements. This position will be responsible for all aspects of safety and regulatory compliance for Creative Soundbar, Bluetooth speakers, Bluetooth Headsets, Soundcards, Headphones Amplifiers & Webcams.

Responsibilities:

• Serve as the primary product certification interface with certification bodies. Obtain and maintain product certifications for all existing and new products.
• Maintain certifications in response to product changes, standards change, and/or regulatory changes.
• Perform design and construction reviews of products to ensure compliance with all applicable product safety standards (IEC62368-1, IEC62133-2).
• Review and approve product manuals, product packaging and product labels with respect to certification requirements.
• Generate test plans and costing in conjunction with the shipping countries.
• Stay abreast on changes applicable to product standards and/or regulations. Communicate new requirements through presentation and training to engineering and marketing.
• Monitor and track worldwide regulatory news in the areas of Safety, EMC, RF and energy efficiency, assess and prepare regulatory requirement summary, identify impacts and propose action plan.

Requirement:

• Degree in Science or Engineering
• min 2 years working experience in handling ITE or consumer product regulatory compliance
• Some EMC/RF knowledge will be an advantage
• Good project management and problem-solving skills
• Engineering / technical background with material knowledge is a plus
• Ability to influence and build rapport with internal and external parties
• Ability to cope with busy work schedule
• Fluent in both English and Chinese (To be able to communicate and interpret engineering technical terms with Mandarin speaking associates)
