About The Role

Reporting to the Principal Manager (Team Lead), the Assistant Manager supports the Innovation Centre in involves managing learning innovation programs, fostering partnerships with stakeholders, and providing consultancy to TAE organisations on leveraging technology for improved learning solutions. It includes identifying innovation opportunities, co-organising activities to drive adoption, showcasing best practices, and promoting cost-effective tools within the TAE sector. The position also supports training, resource development, and cross-team collaboration to advance innovative learning practices.

What You Will Be Doing

• Drive and manage at least one of the inlab innovSeries programs from conceptualization to implementation;
• Identify areas in learning innovation that will contribute to IAL’s mission, including designing and developing initiatives, activities and and/or improving existing ones;
• Cultivate and maintain partnerships with a diverse range of sector stakeholders, including Training Providers, enterprise L&D practitioners, Institutes of Higher Learning (IHLs) and education-technology and learning solutionists to forge collaborations and contribute to the development of a vibrant learning innovation ecosystem;
• Provide advisory and consultancy to TAE organisations and learning solution providers seeking to leverage learning innovation and technology to improve their courses and programmes;
• Contribute to efforts to realise learning innovation adoptions. This would include co-creating and organising of activities and events with stakeholders to meet inlab’s and organizational objectives;
• Identify and curate existing best in class learning innovation for showcase, sharing and implementation;
• Conduct training and sharing sessions on inlab curated learning innovations;
• Develop innovative adult education related resources to facilitate innovative learning practices and adoption within the TAE sector;
• Contribute to the curation of cost-effective and easy-to-use (CEE) technology tools and applications to encourage adoption of learn tech amongst the training and adult education community;
• Participate in cross team and/or divisional projects to meet organisational needs and demands amidst evolving environments, as well as other operational tasks and duties that may be assigned from time-to-time.

Job Requirements

• Tertiary qualification, preferably in Education, Adult Education, Learning and Development or Ed Tech;
• At least 5 years of experience in learning designing, pedagogy and/or developing technology-enabled learning, Multimedia Production, Education technologies and / or have worked in a technology start-up;
• At least 5 years of experience and proven competencies in supporting adult education, adoption of learning technologies and production of learning resources;
• Proven skills in networking, business acumen, conceptualisation, project management and project implementation; with experience in business development and enterprise fronting engagements;
• Strong pedagogical and andragogical foundation;
• Able to keep up with and appreciate innovation development in technology-enabled learning and technology-enabled learning design;
• Willingness to learn up on new technology platforms that will improve internal operations, and engage internal stakeholders well for this purpose;
• Familiar with Singapore’s Continuing Education and Training (CET) landscape and have good network of learning solution providers, enterprises, Training Providers and/or IHLs;
• Able to analyse, evaluate and assess learning challenges and the recommended solutions put forward;
• Able to work independently and collaborate effectively, with a good eye for detail and administration capabilities;
• Strong written and spoken language abilities.
• The successful appointee will be based in IAL Campus located at Lifelong Learning Institute at Paya Lebar.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Conduct Geometric Surveys for Piling Locations:Perform precise surveys to determine the alignment, position, and depth of piling works within reserve lines.
   Ensure that pile locations are accurately positioned within predefined boundaries or reserve lines, adhering to project specifications.
   
2. Establish Control Points:Set up and maintain survey control points for accurate referencing during piling operations.
   Utilize Total Stations, GPS equipment, or Leveling instruments to mark and reference key positions along the piling line.
   
3. Coordinate with Engineers and Contractors:Collaborate with project engineers, structural designers, and piling contractors to ensure the correct placement of piles based on structural requirements and geotechnical conditions.
   Interpret engineering drawings and translate them into field measurements and markings for piling locations.
   
4. Monitor and Ensure Compliance with Reserve Line Boundaries:Monitor the boundaries of reserve lines to ensure that piles are placed within designated areas, preventing encroachment into restricted zones or adjacent properties.
   Ensure that all surveys comply with local regulations, environmental requirements, and project specifications.
   
5. Provide Layout and Alignment for Piling Works:Accurately lay out the positioning of piles based on project specifications, adjusting for any terrain or environmental constraints.
   Measure and verify the distance and alignment between piles, ensuring that all construction work stays within the designated reserve lines.
   
6. Data Collection and Analysis:Collect field data related to the positioning of piles and site conditions, ensuring that data is recorded accurately for analysis and reporting.
   Prepare survey reports and ensure proper documentation of field measurements for review by engineers and project managers.
   
7. Coordinate with Survey Teams:Lead or work as part of a survey team to perform site surveys at various stages of the piling process, ensuring that all piles are aligned and positioned as per design specifications.
   Ensure that all surveying equipment is properly calibrated and functioning.
   
8. As-Built Surveys:Perform as-built surveys to verify the final position and alignment of piles once construction is complete, ensuring compliance with the original design.
   Report any discrepancies between the as-built survey and design plans and work with engineers to resolve issues.
   
9. Site Safety:Adhere to site safety protocols and ensure that survey activities do not interfere with piling operations or pose a risk to workers.
   Participate in safety briefings and report any safety hazards encountered during fieldwork.
   
10. Post-Survey Analysis:

• Analyze survey data to create detailed layouts, cross-sections, and alignment reports for engineering and construction purposes.
• Provide recommendations for adjustments or corrections in pile placement based on survey results.

Skills and Qualifications:

1. Technical Surveying Skills:Proficiency in using surveying instruments such as Total Stations, Levels, GPS systems, and Laser Scanners.
   Experience with geodetic and geometric surveying methods, including distance and angle measurement techniques.
   
2. Knowledge of Piling Procedures:Understanding of piling methods (e.g., driven piles, bored piles, screw piles) and how they relate to surveying practices.
   Familiarity with the geotechnical aspects of piling, such as soil conditions and their impact on pile placement.
   
3. Geometric Design and Layout:Ability to interpret and work with engineering drawings to accurately layout piles according to the design specifications and within the reserve lines.
   
4. Computer-Aided Design (CAD) Skills:Proficiency in software like AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or other surveying and mapping tools to create and analyze survey data.
   
5. Problem Solving:Strong problem-solving skills to address issues such as obstacles or site conditions that may affect the piling alignment or positioning.
   
6. Attention to Detail:High level of precision and accuracy in collecting, recording, and analyzing survey data.
   
7. Communication and Collaboration:Ability to work closely with engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth communication and coordination throughout the piling process.
   
8. Experience:Previous experience in geometric surveying, piling, or construction projects is preferred.
   Experience with piling projects, particularly in relation to reserve lines, would be advantageous.

• Maintaining accounts: Responsible for maintaining a full set of accounts, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements
• Reconciling accounts: Performing monthly reconciliations for financial reporting
• Preparing reports: Preparing and compiling financial and management reports
• Filing returns: Filing quarterly GST returns and other tax returns
• Liaising with others: Liaising with bankers, external auditors, and company secretaries
• Handling employee claims: Verifying claims applications and receipts
• Preparing payroll: Preparing payroll and CPF/IR8A forms for clients
• Preparing audit schedules: Preparing audit schedules and liaising with external auditors during annual audits
• Managing obligations: Managing obligations to suppliers, customers, and third-party vendors
• Preparing cash flow projections: Preparing cash flow projections weekly or monthly
• Preparing for year-end audit: Preparing for year-end audit

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Emergency response: Act promptly in emergencies, notify relevant personnel, and follow safety protocols.
• Quality and safety: Ensure compliance with quality standards and health/safety regulations.
• Product and parts sourcing: Procure items for general repairs, e.g., drywall and bathroom fixtures.
• Preventative maintenance: Monitor and execute scheduled preventive maintenance.
• Routine inspections: Regularly inspect premises and equipment for any issues.
• Contractor oversight: Supervise contractors during professional repairs.
• Project participation: Engage in various projects, including alteration works.
• System functionality: Verify the functionality of building systems like irrigation.
• Additional duties: Perform other required duties and activities.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Work status reporting: Proficient in creating reports to update management on work status.
• Experience criteria: Preferably possess a minimum of three years in building maintenance, construction, plumbing, or electrician roles; however, it is not obligatory.
• Carpentry and repair expertise: Knowledgeable in general carpentry and repair practices.
• A&A project management: Experienced in overseeing Alteration and Addition (A&A) projects.
• Physical capabilities: Must be physically capable of climbing ladders, bending, or maneuvering in confined spaces.
