Job Summary

The Vice President and Expert-in-Residence (EIR) will work closely with partner academic and research institutions to identify novel academic drug discovery opportunities suitable for investor support, with a view to create and grow innovative new biotech companies in Singapore.

Key Responsibilities

Project Applications

* Provide support to research institutions in drafting project applications

* Work with PIs to determine project milestones (i.e. technical milestones that need to be fulfilled as part of tranched funding), resources required (i.e. requirements from CRO/CDMO, PIs or third-party vendors), and budget for the project (i.e. funding tranches)

* Coordinate with research institutions for IP due diligence as part of project applications including, but not limited to, potentially performing informal searches related to patentability and freedom to operate to ascertain and minimise risk

* Review all project applications and perform the initial triage of applications to identify appropriate ones to be shortlisted for the Joint Steering Committee’s review

Roles and Responsibilities:

1. Operations Management:

Manage all aspects of the restaurant's daily operations, including opening and closing procedures, staffing, and inventory management.
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and uphold cleanliness standards throughout the restaurant.
Monitor food quality and presentation, addressing any issues promptly to maintain customer satisfaction.
Implement and enforce company policies and procedures to maintain consistency and efficiency.

2. Staff Management:

Recruit, train, and supervise restaurant staff, including servers, kitchen staff, and support personnel.
Create staff schedules, taking into account business demand and staff availability, ensuring adequate coverage for all shifts.
Provide ongoing coaching and performance feedback to employees, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
Handle employee conflicts or disciplinary issues professionally and according to company policies.

3. Customer Service:

Ensure that all guests receive exceptional service and address any customer concerns or complaints promptly and professionally.
Interact with customers to gather feedback and make improvements to service and offerings as needed.
Maintain a welcoming and hospitable atmosphere in the restaurant, greeting guests and assisting with seating or other requests.

4. Financial Management:

Monitor financial performance indicators, such as sales, expenses, and profitability, and implement strategies to achieve financial goals.
Control costs by managing inventory levels, portion sizes, and waste, and optimizing staffing levels to maximize efficiency.
Prepare and analyze financial reports, including budgets, P&L statements, and forecasts, to track performance and identify areas for improvement.

5. Marketing and Promotions:

Collaborate with marketing team to develop and implement promotional activities and marketing campaigns to attract new customers and retain existing ones.
Utilize social media platforms and other marketing channels to engage with customers and promote the restaurant's offerings and events.

Quickly adapt to changing circumstances or unexpected challenges, such as staffing shortages or equipment malfunctions, to ensure smooth operations.

6. Flexibility and Adaptability:

Be willing to work flexible hours, including weekends, public holidays, and night shifts, to accommodate the demands of the business.

Accounting and financial reporting

• Manage full set of accounts of Singapore entity in compliance with best accounting practices and accounting standards.

Job Description

The Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS) at the National University of Singapore (NUS), invites applications for the position of Research Assistant/Associate. The successful applicant is expected to commence duties at NUS in January 2024, or as soon as possible thereafter.

This position is connected to a research project titled, “Relocation, Social Networks and Housing Aspirations in Ageing Public Housing”. The research focuses on homeowners’ decision making towards housing relocation. The research team will primarily use ethnographic and interview methods in the research, combining these with a small-scale survey, GPS tracking and GIS visualisations for analyses.

The project team consists of Principal Investigator (PI) Professor Elaine Ho (Department of Geography), Co-PI Associate Professor Vincent Chua (Department of Sociology and Anthropology) and Collaborator A/P Feng Chen-Chieh (Department of Geography).

Scope and responsibilities

The RA will provide administrative support to the Principal Investigator for large grant management and liaise with the project team members or external parties on such matters. There will be opportunities to be involved in empirical research and/or data analyses that are central to the project.

Qualifications

Applicants are expected to hold at least a Second Class Honours (Upper Division) or an equivalent honours degree, or a Master’s degree in the Social Sciences.
