Our lab is focused on leveraging new technologies to better study microbial populations and their impact on human health. In this context, our lab has extensive experience in metagenomic analysis and has been involved in numerous large-scale studies exploring microbe diversity and dynamics, as well as the development of numerous tools widely used in the field.

Recent improvements in the sequencing technology field offer unique perspectives for metagenomic assemblies, reducing the gap to the full genomic reconstruction of complex microbial communities that can be further leveraged for comparative genomic analysis. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work in a highly interdisciplinary environment with unique access to novel sequencing technologies and a wide range of samples. Solutions developed during this project will have direct applications to ongoing and new microbiome research projects in the lab, particularly in studying antimicrobial resistance and skin diseases.

The Signature Research Programme in Emerging Infectious Diseases (EID) aims to pioneer the development and discovery of new and more effective methods for the treatment, prevention and control of new and emerging pathogens. The key outcome of the research will be the early identification of new pathogens, out of which new diagnostic tests, treatments and control strategies will be developed.

This position is for a full-time Senior Research Fellow position. The Laboratory of Virus Evolution (LoVE) studies rapidly evolving respiratory RNA viruses including influenza, parainfluenza and coronaviruses. Our research helps to understand the molecular drivers of virus evolution and population dynamics, and their influence on virulence and pathogenicity.

The candidate is expected to play a critical role in generating and fostering a cutting-edge, interdisciplinary research environment.
