Human activities have altered coral populations and their environments from those that originally formed reefs. A lack of quantitative data on coral reef functions from the region makes it challenging to predict how reef systems will respond to climate change.

The Research Fellow will be responsible for conducting fieldwork using SCUBA (PADI Rescue Diver qualification desirable) and laboratory analysis to assess coral reef diversity and habitat functioning in both turbid and clear-water reef settings. The successful candidate will be able to independently coordinate and undertake local and overseas field research to produce high-quality datasets. Field activities include benthic ecological surveying, biological and environmental sample collection, water quality measurements, deployment of experimental substrates, and experimental ecological work. The Research Fellow will also have previous experience conducting a variety of laboratory tasks relating to quantifying carbonate production of encrusting coral reef taxa, eDNA, stable isotope analysis (C/N), and micro computed tomography. The candidate must also be willing to learn and develop protocols for novel technologies to map and assess coral reef habitats, such as large-scale underwater photogrammetry. The successful applicant will be able to engage with a network of international collaborators and will join a research group with members from diverse backgrounds and project interests. • To check that contractor executes preliminaries items according to the contract documents and as required by prevalent Authorities’ regulations.
• To study available documentation and take all reasonable steps and conduct Quality Control / Inspection of all Architectural works to ensure that quality and standards are achieved as required by Architectural (QP) / SO Rep and as specified in the contract documents.
• To check and verify drawings, service routes and Contractor's setting out and report discrepancies or deviations to the Architectural (QP) / SO Rep.
• To supervise, keep and maintain site records including but not limited to progress of works, record of tests, all variation instructions from the Architectural (QP) / SO Rep, requests for inspections, site safety, site diary, construction sketch issuances, instructions given to Contractors, materials and equipment delivered to site, daily activities and weather conditions at site, DfS Guides (e.g. Guide 1 to 3) and any other significant information.
• To attend site and technical coordination meetings as directed.
• To provide standing supervision as and when required by Contractors and/or as directed by the Architectural (QP) / SO Rep, and in compliance with the relevant Building Control Regulations.
• To assist the Architectural (QP) / SO Rep to verify reports and claims submitted by Contractors.
• Report on site safety, security and housekeeping matters.
• To attend to Contractor's queries and monitor works of Main Contractor, Sub-Contractors and direct Contractors/Suppliers at site, work with Arch Consult to respond in a timely manner and report any delays to Arch Consultant immediately.
• To inspect and take over completed works, report on defects and prepare list of defective works, sign off defects rectifications in preparation for handover of works.
• To cover the duties of the other RTO in his absence.
• To undertake any other duties related to the project as and when instructed by the Architectural (QP) / SO Rep.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Diploma in Architecture or Diploma in Civil & Structural Engineering from local Polytechnic or other tertiary institutions of equivalent standing.
• Must have a minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience as a Resident Technical Officer.
• Registered with IES/ACES Singapore for Resident Technical Officer's certificate for recent 5 years would be preferred.
• Has good working knowledge of Architectural and Interior Design finishing works and compliance to local Building Regulations
