About the role
Welcome to the thrilling world of optical retail, where every day is a wild adventure filled with unexpected surprises and colourful characters! Picture yourself as a retail hero, armed with a smile and armed with an apron, ready to conquer the aisles and create a shopping experience like no other.
What your responsibilities will be
As a sales associate, you are a vital player in the retail world, responsible for creating a positive and engaging shopping experience for customers. Your role is like being a retail superhero, with a diverse range of responsibilities that keep the store running smoothly. Here are your key job responsibilities as a sales associate:
1. Customer Assistance: Your primary duty is to assist customers and provide exceptional service. You'll greet them with a friendly smile, actively listen to their needs, and offer guidance or recommendations based on their preferences and eye conditions. Whether it's helping them find a specific item, suggesting
complementary products, or answering their questions, you'll be their go-to resource.
2. Product Knowledge: You'll become a walking encyclopaedia of product knowledge. It's important to familiarise yourself with the store's inventory, including features, benefits, and pricing details. The more you know about the products, the better equipped you'll be to help customers make informed decisions.
3. Sales and Upselling: Your goal is to drive sales and meet or exceed targets. This involves actively engaging with customers, highlighting promotions or discounts, and using persuasive techniques to encourage additional purchases. Upselling involves suggesting higher-value items or complementary products that enhance the customer's shopping experience.
4. Cashier Duties: You may be responsible for operating the cash register, processing payments accurately, and providing customers with receipts. This requires basic math skills, attention to detail, and a focus on delivering efficient and accurate transactions.
5. Merchandising and Stocking: Maintaining a visually appealing and well-organised sales floor is crucial. You'll help with merchandising tasks like restocking shelves, arranging displays, and ensuring products are properly tagged and labelled. By keeping the store visually appealing, you create an inviting environment for customers.
6. Problem Resolution: Occasionally, customers may encounter issues or have complaints. It's your responsibility to handle these situations professionally and courteously. This may involve resolving conflicts, addressing concerns, or escalating issues to a supervisor or manager when necessary.
7. Store Maintenance: You'll contribute to the overall cleanliness and tidiness of the store. This includes tasks like sweeping the floor, organising fitting rooms, and maintaining a clutter-free environment. By keeping the store in top shape, you enhance the shopping experience for customers.
8. Team Collaboration: You'll work closely with other sales associates, opticians, optometrists and managers to ensure smooth operations. This involves effective communication, sharing information about customer preferences or challenges, and collaborating to achieve store goals.
9. Eye care provider: You’ll work closely with Opticians, Optometrist and sometimes even Ophthalmologist in fitting the best frame and lens for customer’s eyes. You’ll be part of the eye care team offering the best eye care services for customers.
