The Southeast Asia Business Exchange initiative was announced by the Prime Minister of Australia Anthony Albanese at the ASEAN Indo-Pacific Forum in Jakarta on 6 September 2023 as part of Australia’s Southeast Asia Economic Strategy to 2040.
