Gut microbiota influences many areas of human health from immunity to energy metabolism and host physiology. The goal of our research group is to understand how bacterial metabolism, diet-microbe, and microbe-microbe interactions influence cardiometabolic disease using experimental approaches. The RF/SRF will lead a project, recently funded by MOE, that explores the protective mechanisms of butyrate-producing bacteria against atherosclerosis.
