Purpose of the post

Working in the group of Assistant Professor Qu Kun at the ID TRP and the Department of Biochemistry (https://medicine.nus.edu.sg/bch/faculty/qu-kun/), the Research Fellow will conduct a project aimed at understanding the immune response of respiratory viruses. The Qu lab is funded by the Presidential Young Professorship start-up award, National Medical Research Council Young Individual Research Grant, and Ministry of Education Academic Research Funds. We decipher dynamic and elusive viral infection mechanisms using cryo-electron microscopy, tomography and subtomogram averaging. In 2024, the latest Titan Krios G4 TEM and Arctis cryo-plasma focused ion beam milling SEM are scheduled for installation at the NUS Centre for BioImaging Sciences (CBIS), which will offer us formidable advantages to conduct highly automatic structural studies inside the cell.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

The Research Fellow is expected to:

Scope of work.

• Sourcing and installation of equipment to measure ionospheric effects.
• Working with SAR image providers on the tasking of SAR satellites and procurement of SAR images.
• Preparing for field trials, including the design and installation of dedicated scatterers, such as corner reflectors.
• Recording and processing of measured data.

We are looking for a research officer to assist with various projects in the lab related to big data in precision medicine through the use of data science tools such as machine learning and pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic (PK/PD) modeling. The research officer will be expected to perform bioinformatics-related tasks, such as multi-omics analysis, compile and manage databases, and execute basic PK/PD models and analysis in R.
