The Research Officer will oversee the progress of the research study under the supervision of the Principal investigator. They will perform a variety of research activities which include planning and execution of experiments for functional validation, leading up to a scientific publication.

Main Duties:

1. Tissue Logistics

• Tracking of biological samples received in the lab pertaining to the study
• Collection of patient samples (FFPE, Tissue, WBC,DNA or RNA) from Pathology
• DNA/RNA extraction from frozen tissue or FFPE

2. Cell culture

The Data Scientist role is to help the team in driving and maintaining a shared platform for clinical and genomic data recording and analysis, as well as biological specimens tracking, for local and regional research projects mainly managed by National Cancer Centre Singapore. The incumbent will also support scientific research projects in NCCS through data science applications.

Key Responsibilities:

• Genomics Pipelines

- Work with the team to build pipelines on BC Platform (AWS) such that genomic data can be processed effectively

- Organize the database such that all genomic and clinical data are linked and easily retrieved

- Build the pipelines for federated data sharing

• Data Analysis

-Perform data analysis and visualization work to support research projects, grant applications, and publications

• Database Management

- Manage the database used to host our clinical data to ensure that it is maintained operationally in a cost-effective manner

- Perform data cleaning, data standardization, and data structuring for data in the database

Requirements:

• At least BSc in a relevant field (biology or bioinformatics or computational science)
• At least 2 years of work experience in data science/ genomic data, with working knowledge of clinical and genomic data workflows
• Technical experience in at least 1 of the following areas: Linux/cluster environments, computational genomic workflows (e.g. GATK), relational databases, Docker, cloud computing (e.g. AWS) and/or other data science systems
