Executive Director, Risk Portfolio Analytics

Job Summary

Embark on an exciting opportunity to drive innovation and shape the future of managing risk in Standard Chartered. We are seeking a dynamic individual to act as the Lead in an ongoing Risk transformation program focused on improving the management stress capabilities in the credit risk area within the bank and especially within Risk. The role holder will work directly with the Global Head, ERM, Regional Head ERM and Enterprise Risk Analytics, CIB and WRB Credit Officers and Program resources to deliver the strategic state and transiting the program into BAU.

Strategy

· Lead design of analytical tools/models to allow performance of rapid stress testing analysis in the CIB/WRB book with a focus on forecasting detailed financial statement under stress and estimating impacts on key risk measures such as RWA and ECL

· Lead engagement with Vendors for development of analytical tools

· Identify key risk areas and potential actions that can be taken through review of Management Stress Test Results generated from GCFO or Risk Stress Testing tools

· Partner with 1st and 2nd line of defence to identify common requirements related to portfolio analysis and drive consistency

Business

· Engage with business to discuss and agree actions to be taken based on insights gained through review of Management stress test results

· Engage business and credit teams to gather and prioritise evolving requirements to be developed. Ability to succinctly present the output of management stress test to various committees and risk forums.

Key Responsibilities

Processes

· Design solutions for Management Stress Testing capabilities for CIB/WRB Credit

· Act as Product/System owner of infrastructures developed for Risk Portfolio analytics

· Review and adjust results from agreed regular MSTs and identify key insights and actions

· Coordinate and review production of relevant papers for working groups and committees

· Drive automation initiative wherever possible to reduce manual dependencies in the process

· Document the newly developed processes and establish good practices in the team to ensure it complies with the strategic objectives of the organization while managing risk effectively.

· Support in program management activities as required

People & Talent

· Lead and develop the Risk Portfolio Analytics team across all markets

· Develop and leverage a strong network across the three lines of defence and across all businesses and markets

· Managing excellent relationship through an established engagement model with all stakeholders with ‘Think Client’ Approach

· Always have an eye for Process Improvements and Innovations with an objective to ‘Simplify’, while still maintaining the value delivered

· Have an attitude to create a Collaborative Team Environment with ‘Human’ element to build the function for the long-term

Risk Management

· The ability to interpret the Group or country CIB/WRB Credit Information, identify key drivers and key risk areas based on this information and put in place appropriate controls and measures including analysing and interpreting stressed financial statements, credit grades, RWAs and ECLs.

· Demonstrate a clear understanding and ability to manage data quality and other data-related risks.

Governance

· Ensure compliance with the Group’s policies and procedures, and the regulatory framework.

· Maintain appropriate documentation and controls for modelling, reporting, and analytics.

Our Ideal Candidate

· 12+ Years of experience in Credit Risk

· Bachelor's or Master's university degree in a quantitative field such as mathematics, statistics, economics, finance, computer science or a related discipline

· Knowledge of regulatory frameworks and Banking regulations, more specifically related to Credit RWA, IFRS9 ECL, ICAAP

· Experience in supporting Finance/Risk/Regulatory Change initiatives and projects in a fast evolving environment

· Strong analytical mindset with excellent analytical, logical, reasoning and problem-solving skills including solid understanding of advanced mathematical concepts and programming languages such as Python or SAS

· Experience of working with multiple stakeholders; Managerial Information design and operation.

· Experience of working under pressure to produce high quality reporting in a highly controlled environment

Role Specific Technical Competencies

· SAS, Python, R and Excel skills

· RWA/ECL Knowledge

· CCIB Credit Knowledge

· Experience of producing portfolio insights for management consumption
