NGAP Project is looking for a Research Fellow on the Modeling of Quantum Experiments with Optical Non-Linearities

NGAP PROJECT

N-GAP: Nanophotonic GAtes with exciton-Polaritons

One of the main goals in the field of quantum technologies is to achieve quantum computing.

Many technologies and platforms have been suggested to build a quantum computer, including ions, atoms, electrons, and superconducting materials. Among these options, all-integrated photonic platforms that allow creating complex circuitry with a small footprint are very promising.

In N-GAP we will explore and exploit a hybrid state of light and matter, the excitonic polariton, to create a platform for quantum computing. Exciton polaritons, which emerge from the strong-coupling of an exciton and a photon, exhibit Kerr nonlinearities typically three orders of magnitude stronger than that found in standard photonic nonlinear crystals.

The main objective of N-GAP is to further enhance the nonlinearity of the polariton systems to achieve the first experimental realisation of a deterministic CNOT gate based on polariton systems, which is the essential building block of a quantum computer.

DESCRIPTION

Scientific objectives- The post-doc will investigate the potential of optical non-linearities to perform energy-efficient quantum computing, amplification and measurements. She/he will build analytical models describing the joint dynamics of optical non-linearities and propagating pulses of light in the quantum regime of interaction. A fully Hamiltonian dynamics is targeted, unlocking access to light-matter entangled states and the possibility to explore various optimization regimes for the quantum processes at play. The post-doc will be involved in the modeling of the first experiments in the quantum regime realized in the group of Maxime Richard (MajuLab, CQT).

Working environment- The research fellow will be hosted in the group of Alexia Auffèves in MajuLab, CQT, Singapore. The group is pioneer in the modelling of interactions between quantum emitters and propagating pulses of light. She/he will be involved in a network of collaborations with leading experimental groups in quantum computing with light. She/he will integrate the vibrant environment of the Centre for Quantum Technologies, a long-standing powerhouse of quantum. She/he will engage in the fast-paced Singaporean ecosystem, a multicultural hub and Asian leader in deep tech.

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

• PhD in quantum physics, with a focus on quantum optics and quantum open systems. Past experimental collaborations will be a strong plus.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Proven track record of published research and presentations in relevant fields.
• A solid knowledge of written and spoken English is mandatory.

The Restaurant Manager is responsible for overseeing the efficient running and profitability of the restaurant and for managing employees.

He/she needs to be able to lead as well as work as part of a team.

The job reports to the Vice-president, Area is accountable for average sales of S$250k per month depending on the size of the restaurant. Job Responsibilities: •Daily roll call with employees to drive operations effectiveness and efficiency via cleanliness of the restaurant, accurate food order taking, servicing the customer, promotions etc •Proactively communicate to employees on KPIs on sales, service and food quality so that together each achieve more (TEAM) •Be fully knowledgeable with the restaurant operation and to efficiently manage the operation of all shifts •Communicate with Chef on guests’ requirements, and maintain a close and professional working relationship with the kitchen at all times •Maintain safety requirements at the restaurant •Ensuring compliance with licensing, hygiene and health and safety legislation/guidelines •Managing budgets • Manage stock levels of food and other related utensils and cutleries •Handle customers’ compliments and complaints promptly

•Deliver and present manpower and sales reports

•Suggest and recommend improvements to the running of the restaurant

•Administer and action daily mails, guest report lists, staff rosters, operations reporting and other paperwork promptly and accurately

•Be aware of the current business environment and to bring in sound ideas to increase sales, decrease spending, up selling orders and maximising guests spending where possible

•Communicate effectively with the other departments and colleagues, suppliers and contractors to ensure that all information is communicated clearly and follow up actions are coordinated well

•Assist in recruitment needs

•Responsible for induction training and on the job training of new employees and also newly promoted staff

•Appraise employees to reward and punish fairly

•Understand the need for training and development of employees and to take a proactive approach in training employees especially mandatory training like Basic Food Hygiene and Safety

Job Requirements:

•Preferably with Degree/Diploma in Hospitality related studies or with WSQ Certificate in F&B Operations / F&B Supervision / F&B Management

•Passion for excellent customer service

•Able to lead a team in a fast paced and demanding environment

Responsibilities

Restaurant Operations

o Execute assigned area of responsibility (e.g. greeter, runner, bartender, cashier) based on SOP

o Set up restaurant for service day, which include but not limiting to checking on availability of food item and special menu, guest reservation status, service area set-up, cash register and payment machines

o Provide service to customers

o Execute proper cash management

o Preparation and serving of all drinks, beverages and dessert items

Restaurant Management & Planning

o Address customers’ complaints in accordance to guidelines and to escalate issues to supervisors when necessary

o Identify and report all potential problems and to provide recommendations pertaining to the provision of services, food quality and cleanliness

Quality Assurance & Control

o Comply with SOP and safety requirements

o Ensure quality of food is up to the prescribed standard

o Ensure safety and hygiene standards are maintained by inspecting and cleaning of all utensils and restaurant area

o Identify and report unsafe and/or non-compliant conditions and behaviors pertaining to personal and food safety

People Management

o Perform as a reliable team member and communicate clearly and audibly.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with global CRSD team (Head Office in Tokyo, Osaka Office, New York Office, London Office, Hong Kong Office, and Shanghai Office, both in English and Japanese).
• Liaise with Head Office in Tokyo and other domestic offices in Japan, which include communicating in Japanese and preparing internal reports in Japanese
• Provide corporate research, industry research, discussion papers, which are used for the bank’s credit protection and business promotions, in a timely manner with high quality.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent with min. 5 years or longer related research experience in rating agencies or financial institutions especially conducting research for APAC markets

1. Machinery, Transport, Telecom, Media sector are preferable
2. Experience in India business is also preferable

• Good communication skills in English and proficiency in Japanese Language is highly preferred as this role requires the person to prepare presentation in Japanese. The role also requires briefing the senior management in Japan and the presentation that are usually conducted in Japanese.
• Savvy PC software user such as Word, Excel and Powerpoint
• Good to be able to coordinate and manage stakeholders, team player and client oriented
