Job Responsibilities:
· Develop and implement goals and priorities for the aquarium exhibits, aligned with Singapore Oceanarium’s (SGO) mission and vision.
· Oversee and manage the day-to-day operations of the aquarium facility, ensuring the highest standards of exhibit maintenance, animal care, and guest experience.
· Develop and implement comprehensive husbandry plans, including the maintenance of live exhibits and holding systems.
· Lead and motivate the Small Exhibits team to uphold excellence in animal care, exhibit aesthetics, and overall facility maintenance by providing training, mentorship, and guidance.
· Collaborate with the management team in strategic planning, budgeting CAPEX and OPEX budget for Small Exhibits, and resource allocation to meet organizational goals.
· Work closely with the Veterinary department on all quarantine treatment procedures
· Report animal medical cases to Curatorial and Veterinarian team upon discovery.
· Represent the Singapore Oceanarium’s at industry conferences, speaking engagements, and media interactions to enhance its reputation and promote its mission.
· Develop and execute conditioning plans for aquatic and terrestrial animals, ensuring positive behaviors and engagement.
· Maintain readiness for industry inspections and coordinate animal handling for medical care and transport.
· Contribute to the development, maintenance, and revision of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work processes.
· Supervise the procurement of supplies and equipment, ensuring cost-effectiveness and adherence to quality standards.
· Participate in ongoing research projects that align with the aquarium’s mission, ensuring ethical and professional conduct.
· Provide mentorship and training to staff, fostering continuous professional development.
Job Requirements:
· Bachelor’s degree in marine biology, Aquaculture, Zoology, or a related field.
· Minimum of 8 to 10 years of experience in aquarium management or curatorial roles.
· Holds a PADI Rescue Diver certification or higher.
· In-depth knowledge of habitat requirements for terrestrial and aquatic species, as well as life support systems.
· Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and chemical engineering aspects of maintaining biological systems.
· Proven experience in animal acquisition, collection, and transport.
· Maintains up to date and accurate records in Oerca program system to ensure quality of
· animal management and welfare are at or above industry standards.
· Proficient in Windows and Microsoft Office software.
· Excellent organizational and managerial skills.
