Implementation of HR Policies & Practices

[What the role is]

The Centre for Climate Research Singapore (CCRS) is a division of the Meteorological Service Singapore (MSS). At CCRS, our mission is to advance scientific understanding of tropical climate variability and change and its associated weather systems affecting Singapore and the wider Southeast Asia region, so that the knowledge and expertise can benefit decision makers and the community. Our vision is to be a world leading centre in tropical climate and weather research focussing on the Southeast Asia region.

Within CCRS, the Department of Weather Research (DWR) leads the research and development (R&D) of our core tropical, convective-scale ‘SINGV’ modelling system for both weather and climate change applications. DWR also undertakes R&D and oversees the transition to operations of SINGV-based local numerical weather prediction (NWP), marine and haze/air quality forecasting with lead times up to a week ahead. The DWR works closely with CCRS’s Department of Climate Research (DCR) and High Performance Computing (HPC) Branch, MSS forecasters, local universities, and a number of international organisations including the UK Met Office, Australian Bureau of Meteorology, and US National Centre for Atmospheric Research (NCAR). Since 2022, CCRS has been a core member of the international Unified Model (UM) partnership.

The DWR/NWP branch is responsible for developing and improving nowcasting and regional NWP systems, and translating the outputs into customised products for supporting MSS weather services and other stakeholders. The branch also works closely with local agencies, institutes of higher learning and UM partners to share research outcomes and deliver improved forecast products for the region.

Rainfall nowcasting is a key R&D area at CCRS to provide timely and actionable very-short-range (<1hr) heavy rainfall warnings to the general public and government agencies. The successful candidate will be part of the diagnostic team at EHI that provides early diagnosis of vector-borne diseases. Besides handling risk group 2 pathogens, you are required to work with risk group 3 pathogens and will be involved in the risk assessment and development of protocols.

Requirements:

• At least 5 years of working experience in molecular biology techniques

• Experience in BSL3 laboratory is preferred

• Excellent analytical mind and systematic in planning

• Able to multitask and a team player

• Task orientated and meticulous

• Good in communication and interpersonal skills

• Willing to work after office hours and weekends if required

Your team

Located at the P&G Singapore Innovation Center, you will a key member the Hair Care Packaging, Research & Development organization. You will have the opportunity work in multi-functional teams and engage with both internal and external partners.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead new Innovation Package qualification focus on Label and Flexible package technology.
• Design learning plan, define technical success criteria, execute lab test as well as line trial at manufacturing site and call out technical risk with proposal to solve for on-going quality.
• Lead overall APAC project technical assessment working with multi-functional team. This includes technical transformation of package scope, quantify technical risk, layout CPS, quantify technical resource/ budget need, and elevate prioritization. This requires fundamental technical mastery on entire package form such as Rigid, Tube, Flexible, label.
• Lead new supplier capability for future strategic innovation and saving pipeline, focus on Label and Flexible package technology.
• Lead layouting 3-5 years cost innovation masterplan focus on label and flexible packaging. Work with global innovation leader to download replicable innovation idea and new innovation skillset, and share regional fit-for-use requirement.
• Provide technical coaching to junior package organization in technical center as well as manufacturing site.

Job Requirements

• Minimium Bachelors Degree in Science or Engineering related fields
• 5+ years’ experience in FMCG sector in packaging category
• Mastery in package development and qualification process
• Strong technical mastery on entire package form such as Rigid, Tube, Flexible, label.
• This role will manage key interphase between P&G internal R&D and external manufacturing partner. Hence, experience working in both manufacturing and R&D environment will be an advantage.
• Able to work independently, multi task and perform in a challenging work environment
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to use data to connect multiple ideas and develop solutions
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to connect with people from different cultures and levels, both internally and externally

Job Duties

• Conduct regular site visits and coordinate with relevant project teams to review project information against contract requirements
• Update monthly project progress data on an on-going basis
• Conduct Cost Analysis and Cost Loading for a specific Data Center Project
• Enter cost details into the project cost control system in a timely manner
• Provide accurate inputs to supervisor for preparation of monthly progress claims to the client; Create draft claims documents as directed by supervisor
• Create draft agreements for sub-contracted work and seek approval from supervisor
• Conduct site visits on a regular basis to track progress against sub-contract requirements
• Produce and maintain month-end cost-to-date and forecast costs for sub-contractors
• Highlight deviations from plan to supervisor for subsequent action planning and corrective action
• Conduct site visits to verify accuracy of sub-contractor claims for cost variations, etc.
• Respond to correspondence received from sub-contractors in a timely manner in line with sub-contract requirements
• Seek support from supervisor and/or project teams as required
• Track cost of all charitable donations attributable to the project
• Raise invoices for all surplus/demolished materials sold, in a timely manner
• Follow up for timely receipt of payment from buyers of surplus/demolished material
• Update records of all donations, sales of surplus/demolished materials, etc. on an on-going basis

Job Requirements

• Diploma/Degree in Quantitative Surveying or related area
• More than 5 years of relevant experience in construction industry
• Prior experience with Data Center projects will be an added advantage
• Good communications skills and a team player
