Engineering of focused polarisation structures can be achieved, for example, through wavefront shaping and polarisation control of incident beams. Illumination of proteins or other small bioparticles with such superoscillatory polarisation structured light offers opportunities in detection of conformational changes or nano-displacements which can observed with high sensitivity in polarisation space, even though there is no observable variation in the intensity domain. In this project we seek to determine optimal polarisation structures and determine expected sensitivity through analytic and computational means. With this role, you will be working on all the portfolio of Sensory Qual methodologies we have developed at MMR for the last 15 years to help support our clients in designing ideal product and pack briefs to fit an idea / concept / positioning (being innovation or renovation), in understanding sensorially active characteristics during the consumption journey or in developing the complete guardrails for innovation working alongside our qual and brand consultant colleagues. You will therefore work across all MMR existing client teams and new ones too, which will provide a lot of variety in the product categories researched, as well as challenges. We are solution focused, so adaptability and quick thinking are crucial, especially in the current circumstances. Most of MMR’s work is food, drink and personal care related, so experience in these sectors is advantageous, to be able demonstrate relevant expertise to our clients.

All our Sensory Qual approaches use qualitative collaborative techniques, so consumer understanding and great client interaction are key to add value to the process. You will own the projects you work on and deliver them from proposal to debrief as well as be involved in business development initiatives to continue to grow our client base.

The Energy Research Institute @ NTU (ERI@N) is looking for highly motivated and experienced candidate to join us as Research Fellow. The candidate will be part of Indonesia–NTU Singapore Institute of Research for Sustainability and Innovation (INSPIRASI), a joint research consortium between founding university partners, NTU, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), Universitas Indonesia (UI), Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), and Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS).  Beyond its role as an education hub to facilitate knowledge creation and transfer between NTU and the four Indonesian universities, INSPIRASI is an innovation hub of cutting-edge technology, with a research focus on sustainability, particularly in renewable energy, circular economy and smart cities.

The candidate will support the program as research fellow to conduct and contribute to the development of next generation solar harvesting technology in the INSPIRASI programme, ensuring synergistic and collaborative research among the universities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement wet-based fabrication techniques to create novel inorganic photoabsorbers based on computational recommendations

• Apply expertise in inorganic semiconductor synthesis and composite formulations, with a focus on optical applications

• Conduct comprehensive experimental studies to fine-tune the novel photoabsorbers for desired properties

• Collaborate closely with the team to ensure the successful development and integration of novel photoabsorbers for diverse applications

• Employ advanced characterization methods, including photoluminescence, UV-Vis spectroscopy, Solar Cell performance, and photoelectrochemical cell testing

• Conduct thorough literature review and generate periodic updates

• Supervise junior research staff, undergraduate and graduate student projects

Job Requirements:

• Hold or anticipate obtaining a Ph.D. in materials science, chemistry, or physics

• Possess a minimum of 4-5 years of research experience, encompassing the Ph.D. study period, in the optoelectronic semiconductor field for energy applications

• Exhibit expertise in the fabrication and characterization of solar cells or photoelectrochemical cells (e.g. IV characterization, XRD, SEM, EQE, PL, etc)

• Knowledge and experience in high throughput synthesis and analysis is a bonus

• A strong track record of research ability and demonstrated contribution to research (e.g., research publications, grant applications, patents)

• Excellent interpersonal skills, and ability to work in a diverse, international, and inter-disciplinary research environment

• Collaborate with other researchers (including PhD students and research staff) to conduct research on the structure-property relationship of additive manufactured (AM) alloys under the supervision by Prof. Gao Huajian.

• Perform multiscale simulations (DFT, MD, FEM, Phase field model) to obtain fundamental understanding of the deformation mechanism of AM alloys and develop physics-based models for the verification and prediction of mechanical properties.
