RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manage and oversee the filing of regular tax returns, tax audit / inquiries and notices from tax authorities, GST/VAT and withholding tax

Job Summary

• M&A: Development of tailor-made finance and acquisition/divestment strategies in the selected countries in collaboration with the Director of Tax Asia Pacific and external advisors. Support in the M&A process and post-acquisition tax claims in the selected countries.

General tax matters

• In charge of the optimization and further development of process management and Tax Compliance Management System.
• Support in election/coordination and supervision of tax advisors in the selected countries.
• Keep up to date with regional tax developments and analyze applicability to Brenntag group in collaboration with the Director of Tax Asia Pacific.
• Transfer pricing review and coordination with the Director of Tax Asia Pacific, and external advisors.
  Support overseeing the tax risks.

Tax Accounting and Provisioning (quarterly, year-end, budget)

• Communication with the Director of Tax Asia Pacific concerning the companies in the selected countries, especially during the preparation of the annual financial statements, tax planning, and quarterly reporting process of Brenntag group.
• Plausibility check of tax calculations (current and deferred taxes) of companies in the selected countries.
• Review of data entries for the region’s companies in GTC (Global Tax Center).
• Support colleagues in charge of tax reporting for the selected countries in case of any technical questions in connection with GTC or with basic problems with the calculation of current and deferred taxes for the companies in the selected countries.
• Reply to the Corporate Tax and Director Tax Asia Pacific questions regarding material aspects of tax calculations (current and deferred taxes) for the companies in the selected countries.

Job Requirement/Specification:

Education: Chartered Accountant; strong knowledge of direct and indirect tax in India, good accounting knowledge, experience in international tax, transfer pricing knowledge, and deferred taxes.

Experience: at least 3-5 years’ experience in Indian Taxation. Experience at an international group or accounting firm (Big Four).

Summary

Reporting to Head of Tax (Asia Pacific), you will be providing senior level support and expert tax advisory to Asia Pacific (APAC) senior management for business support, M&A, tax technical and compliance matters as required.

As the APAC Tax manager, you will be collaborating closely with tax and finance teams primarily in APAC and also contribute in other jurisdictions with the Group’s Headquarters tax department. The incumbent is expected to lead discussions and bring issues to resolution.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert technical advice in support of APAC tax leadership
• Advise APAC business leadership as the subject matter expert on all taxation matters
• Provide tax advisory guidance and counsel to group shipping carrier organizations in APAC
• Lead in tax projects and/or lead for tax in cross functional projects
• Perform tax impact analysis in support of new business transactions
• Monitor tax provisions and interlock with internal teams to ensure consistency
• Provide tax audit and/or tax query support as required
• Support tax compliance processes as required
• Research and analyse tax law developments that may affect the Group
• Independently manage external tax consultants

Requirements

• Minimum 8 years’ experience in a corporate tax environment in an MNC with/or Big 4 Accounting firm experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Law or Economics from a recognized institution with at least 1 additional recognized tax accreditation or advanced degree in taxation
• Strong technical knowledge and abilities in Singapore Income Tax and cross border International Tax in shipping carriers/shipping is a huge plus
• High attention to detail and proficient in Microsoft Excel
• Ability to work under pressure and ambiguity and solve complex issues
• Strong team player with the ability to lead in projects

ROLE DESCRIPTION

We are looking to hire a Senior Accountant / Assistant Manager with excellent organizational and analytical skills. The accountant is expected to be detailed oriented, knowledgeable on statistics, have strong problem-solving skills, work comfortably under pressure, and deliver on tight deadlines. • Support the APAC region businesses with tax audits, disputes and litigation.
• Ensure the capital structure of the APAC region is managed including delivery of the annual cash repatriation strategy.
• Monitor tax law changes and support the local markets to deliver required process or systems changes.
• Manage relationships with external tax advisors and local tax authorities.
