The job:
You will conduct day to day underwriting and related tasks as part of the Major Accounts Division (MAD) in Singapore. You will be focused on Financial Lines products across all of Chubb's distribution channels.
This is a critical role, as you apply your underwriting knowledge and skills to contribute to the overall growth and profitability of the Financial Lines portfolio within the MAD and P&C department’s overall business goals.
The Major Accounts Division:
We have the mission to be the “best of Chubb” across multi-line underwriting strategies, with dedicated whole-account client executives, market-leading account servicing, and bespoke claims, multi-national and risk engineering services, for large global and domestic accounts.
We work together across the MAD to bring these features to our broker partners and clients to form long-term partnerships.
MAD clients are companies with a parent company revenue of >USD 500m and typically therefore large and multinational businesses.
As a Senior Underwriter, a typical day would include:
· Responsible for underwriting of insurance products and growing the portfolio of the Financial Lines business including but not limited to Directors and Officers Liability, Professional Indemnity, Medical Malpractice, Crime, Cyber, Financial Institutions Insurance for MAD clients
· Maintain profitable renewal accounts as well as assist in the achievement of financial plans and business strategies to ensure profitable growth for Financial Lines
· Drive new business through active prospecting, broker engagement, cross-selling, and other strategic initiatives
· Develop cross-product team culture and instill can do attitude across the MAD team
· Leading the team and MAD Value Proposition in external engagements with our broker partners and clients
· Maintain close rapport and relationship with brokers, maintains liaison with producers to obtain necessary underwriting information, promote satisfactory service relationship and to encourage the submission of targeted business
· Engage externally with our key clients, engage in client stewardship meetings, client roadshows and other events
· Develop a multiline view of some of our key clients’ relationships and broaden your knowledge from the Financial Lines product to all solutions that Chubb can offer to maximize the value we bring for broker partners and clients
· Secure additional information where necessary and analyses all pertinent data to determine acceptability of risks according to established underwriting standards
· Review endorsements on existing policies to identify any change in original coverage or amounts. Evaluates, accepts, rejects or modifies risks within established underwriting guidelines. Assist in preparing submissions for higher review
· Ensure that systems are updated with the correct data, maintain rates adequacy, rates validation and uphold our Underwriting philosophy
· Coordinate with the support team to ensure valid and timely response on quotations and production of policies, endorsements, certificates, renewal notices, and other administrative requirements
· Assist in performing peer reviews and audits
· Be a mentor to the Underwriters, Assistant Underwriters and Underwriting Assistants across Financial Lines as a product as well as the multi-line MAD team along the way
· Perform ad hoc projects and other related duties as assigned
What you will need:
· Diploma, Bachelor’s Degree, Business Degree, relevant Insurance qualifications or equivalent
· Demonstrated underwriting ability and technical competence as evidenced by a minimum of 5 years’ underwriting experience or equivalent industry experience.
· Extensive experience and knowledge across Financial Lines products
· Analytical skills and ability to evaluate and judge underwriting risks within designated authority.
· Effective communication & interpersonal skills to work effectively with clients, brokers, agents & Chubb personnel.
