We are the University of Cambridge presence in Singapore, Cambridge Centre for Advanced Research and Education in Singapore (CARES). Our activities are sponsored by the National Research Foundation, as part of CREATE, and hosts several research collaborations between University of Cambridge, Nanyang Technological University, National University of Singapore and various industrial partners.
Our team is comprised of world-class scientists and engineers working in a vibrant, fast-paced environment with great opportunities for knowledge and skills development. Who are we looking for?
We are looking for a proactive and creative individual to provide hands-on support to the Communications and External Affairs Manager. The intern will assist with various projects that communicate CARES’ work to internal and external audiences. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone eager to gain practical, hands-on experience in science communication, digital media, and event coordination. This post is for a minimum of three months, starting February 2025.
This role is ideal for a student or recent graduate interested in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations or a related field. We welcome applications from candidates enrolled in a STEM field wanting experience in communications.
Key responsibilities:
Content and Social Media Support
· Assist in drafting and editing content for newsletters, social media posts, website and intranet updates.
· Support the creation of internal and external graphic assets using tools like Canva, Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe Premiere Pro.
Event Coordination
· Provide logistical support for in-person and virtual events, including liaising with vendors, preparing graphic materials, and coordinating event setups to ensure smooth event execution.
· Perform post-event follow-ups.
· Support the Communications and External Affairs Manager with organizing the annual event schedule and budgeting expenses for upcoming events.
· Attend relevant events to promote CARES and our research.
Administrative Assistance
· Assist in compiling scientific reports and preparing slides as needed.
· Perform any other admin and operations-related tasks as needed.
Desired skills:
· Proficiency in LinkedIn and website content management
· Experience with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar tools.
· Good organizational and time management skills with great attention to detail.
· Good command of English with solid writing skills.
· Proactive, adaptable and eager to learn!
This a full-time internship based in the CREATE Tower at NUS University Town, Singapore.
