The Assistant Sales Manager mission is to primarily promote the Hotels and where possible, hotels belonging to the chain in his/her area/region. To achieve optimal sales at the best possible conditions for the company.

To ensure the smooth running operation of the commercial section in consultation with the Director of Sales on all matters.

The performance of the Assistant Sales Manager will be determined solely by the productivities of the corporate section as well as the overall results of the Hotel.

To assist the Director of Sales on other delegated duties, e.g. organizing cocktails/ events etc.

• SALES ADMINISTRATION RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Establish programs and direct efforts to achieve groups and catering goals based on market segmentation and budget
  • Monitor sales production and adjust sales activities, account coverage and sales priorities as necessary to achieve the planned goals
  • Develop annual sales department budget and execute sales programs and activities
  • Prepare departmental budget and forecasts, operating within set parameters and ensure effective cost control
  • To establish and maintain rapport with clients, prior to, during and post conference, exceeding their expectation and encouraging repeat business
  • Expedite function bookings, proposal and event contracts
  • Conduct site inspections when required
  • Control function space maximization
• SALES PERSONNEL DEVELOPMENT RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Recruit, select train and motivate Sales department personnel to achieve sales goals
  • Assure understanding of Job Descriptions, Goals, SOP of Sales Department personnel and conduct formal semi-annual evaluation and ongoing coaching and counseling
  • Maintain established personnel policies and procedures of the hotels
• MARKET PLANNING RESPONSIBIITIES
  • Participate in development and execution of hotel marketing plan to identify sources of group business to the hotel and establish solicitation programs to maximize sales
  • Participate in development of marketing plan, sales action plan, profit plan, A&P budget and marketing audits
  • Monitor forecast of all group and FIT segments and identify valley periods of sales emphasis and achieve forecast
• COMMUNICATION RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Maintain close and open communication with other department heads
  • Maintain timely communication with Corporate Sales Offices, STB that can generate leads and provide information
  • Coordinate communication between Sales and Other Departments to assure awareness of bookings and sales programs
  • Maintain  timely and responsive communication with accounts and prospects
•  INVENTORY MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Monitor function space utilization and holding period of tentative groups to maximize catering revenue
  • Monitor group bookings in relation to room availability, room type and customer spending potential to maximize rooms and other revenue
  • Ensure that all contracts are covered by attrition and cancellation clauses to ensure hotel is protected
• OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Ensure that all safety , health, security and loss control policies and procedures and government legislation are adhered to
  • Comply with hotel and department policies and procedures at all times
  • To carry out other duties as and when assigned by the Management of the Hotel

Responsibilities

Requirements
