Job Description
As an IT Manager in the finance industry, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing the technological infrastructure and systems within a financial organization. Your role is crucial in ensuring the efficiency, security, and compliance of all IT operations to support the business objectives and maintain a competitive edge in the market.
Responsibilities
Strategic Planning:
Develop and implement IT strategies aligned with the overall business objectives of the finance organization. Identify opportunities for technological advancements to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness. Identifying critical security operations metrics and implementing necessary improvements to create solid security practices.
Infrastructure Management:
Oversee the maintenance, upgrade, and optimization of the IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, databases, and software applications. Ensure seamless integration and compatibility of systems to support daily operations. Actively monitoring emerging threats and security technologies. (vulnerability management, investigation, reporting and security monitoring, incident response).
Security and Compliance:
Implement and maintain robust security measures to protect sensitive financial data and customer information. Stay abreast of industry regulations and compliance requirements (e.g., GDPR, PCI-DSS) and ensure adherence across all IT processes and systems. Design and implement IT Security Operations framework and ensure that the policies, controls, and procedures are effective and operationally sound.
Risk Management:
Identify potential risks and vulnerabilities in the IT environment and develop strategies to mitigate them effectively. Implement backup and disaster recovery plans to minimize downtime and data loss in case of emergencies. Provide management oversight for the identification, triage and response of events or incidents of apparent security breaches.
Vendor Management:
Evaluate and select external vendors and service providers for IT solutions and services. Negotiate contracts and agreements to ensure cost-effectiveness and quality delivery of products and services.
Budgeting and Cost Control: Develop and manage the IT budget, ensuring optimal allocation of resources to support business initiatives while maintaining cost efficiency. Monitor expenses and identify opportunities for cost-saving measures.
Stakeholder Communication:
Collaborate with key stakeholders across departments to understand their IT needs and requirements. Communicate IT initiatives, project updates, and system enhancements effectively to ensure alignment with business goals and objectives.
Training and Education:
Train and educate internal staff, other departments, and/or external business partners on SOC management and procedures. Work closely with internal stakeholders to identify and implement necessary changes, that bring about improvements and efficiencies, ensuring that solid security practices within the organization are upheld.
Qualifications
- Diploma/Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. Master's degree or relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, PMP) preferred.
- Proven experience in IT management roles within the finance industry, with a strong understanding of financial systems and regulations.
- In-depth knowledge of IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, storage, and cloud technologies.
- Proficiency in cybersecurity principles and best practices, with experience implementing security measures in a financial environment.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a strategic mindset to drive innovation and continuous improvement.
- Experience in vendor management, budgeting, and project management.
