Research Scientist/Engineer, Mapping and Localization

At the role of Research Scientist/Engineer, Mapping & Localization, you will be involved in researching, developing, and deploying algorithms for environmental mapping & accurate positioning of cars; you will be able to interact with vehicle manufacturers and access state-of-the-art autonomous vehicle testing platforms in real testing environment; you will be expected to tackle a broad range of real-world localization problems and come out with robust solution to help ensure our vehicles are safely driving on the road.

• Design and implement High Definition 3D Mapping using LIDAR, Vision and/or GPS-INS systems.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience. Master’s degree and above will be an advantage.
• 2+ year experience in C++ software development, preferred on Linux platform.
• Strong knowledge on Lidar SLAM with real deployment experience, and/or, experience with Visual Odometry(VO), Visual-inertial Odometry(VIO), Visual SLAM.
• Good knowledge on 3D Reconstruction, SLAM, scan matching, ICP and Bundle Adjustment.
• Good knowledge on probabilistic theory, Kalman filter, particle filter, estimation, nonlinear optimization techniques.
• Experience with nonlinear solvers such as Ceres, g2o.
• Good knowledge on sensor characterization (e.g., error modelling, bias, stability etc.)
• Hands-on experience in sensor interfacing, data capture and synchronization.
• Experience in using version control tools such as Git.

• Identifies risk and hazard associated with the electrical works and prepare related risk assessment and work method statement.
• Jobs briefing and tool box talk to workforce prior to start the work activities.
• Ensures timekeeping are followed by subcontractor workers.
• Ensures availability of required engineering drawings, resources and consumables to carry the works.
• Coordinates with other discipline such as QAQC, Material, Painting department according to requirement during the project phase.
• Coordinates closely all EIT work activities between Seatrium (Structural, Piping, Mechanical, Lifting, Architecture, Blast & Paint, HVAC, Maintenance, Commissioning, Weighing, Sea Fastening, Load Out), and Subcontractors.
• Monitoring the subcontractor for daily progress and updates.
• Enforces safe work practices at job site, and monitor, and ensure workers work in a safety manner and all EIT job site are in good and safe condition.
• Participates in Line Walk and prepare punch list prior to complete EIT activity.
• Ensures punch list liquidation and action by subcontractor on required punch point on priority basis.
• Responsible to stop; if any violation by the subcontractors against the HSE or quality requirements.

• Assists Assistant Section Manager with the daily NDT Inspection activities and manpower deployment
• Reviews technical specifications, drawings, procedures, and standards required in the project
• Reviews and checks the project NDT plan and procedures submitted by NDT Assistant Engineer/ Engineer
• Monitors the project schedule for NDT activities
• Reviews and monitors NDT contractors' technicians’ list, equipment calibration list, and their NDT reports before submission to project clients
• Performs dressings, electrocardiograms, and other minor procedures
• Liaises with QA Engineers on the NDT work scope, requirements, and progress
• Ensures there is proper documentation of project inspection and test activities
• Initiates recommendations and provides solutions to project problems through designated channels
• Performs internal audits on project documents and inspection activities
• Ensures that all standard operating procedures comply with specifications, quality standards, statutory and regulatory requirements

Job Requirements

• Degree/ Diploma in Naval Architecture/ Civil/ Marine and Offshore Engineering/ Mechanical Engineering
• At least 3 years of relevant Quality Assurance working in Radiography and Ultrasonic Flaw Detection Test, preferably in the offshore and marine industry
• Possess a positive and willing-to-learn attitude

Job scope:
