The successful candidate will establish and maintain an independent research group in SBS/NTU, dedicated to gain nanometer to near atomic scale insights into macromolecular complexes within their native cellular contexts. The School of Biological Sciences (SBS), College of Science (CoS) at the Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore seeks outstanding candidates to apply for a tenure track position at the level of Assistant Professor with a research focus in the area of Drug Discovery/Pharmacology.

SBS is searching for individuals with a well-defined research vision and an outstanding track record of publications in top journals. The successful candidate will establish and maintain an independent extramurally funded research program. The successful candidate is expected to show a strong commitment to departmental undergraduate and graduate mentoring and teaching.

SBS covers several areas of research encompassing genetic, structural, biochemical, peptide chemistry, chemical biology and cellular investigator-led projects offering many opportunities for interdisciplinary collaborations not only within the school but also with other departments in the university. SBS/NTU offers cutting edge infrastructures, such as state-of-the-art structural biology and biophysical facilities (Titan Krios Cryo-EM, Rigaku FRX X-ray generator, BLI, ITC), confocal microscopy, a complete set of proteomics facilities and a modern computer cluster. Requirements:

We are seeking an outstanding candidate with expertise in molecular pharmacology, chemical biology, or drug discovery to join our dynamic team. Prospective candidates include those with experience and interest in the investigation into the molecular mechanisms of diseases and the interactions between drugs and biological targets and in the discovery and design of innovative molecules as pharmacological tools to study cellular processes in disease conditions and/or as drug leads for disease intervention. The successful candidate will be expected to establish an independent, externally funded research program and contribute to the teaching and mentoring of graduate and undergraduate students. She or he will also be expected to contribute to the academic and research community through collaboration and service, e.g. help establish internal or external collaborative projects on target identification and validation, assay development, drug screening and lead discovery.

Competitive applicants for the Assistant Professor position should have a strong record of research productivity and a well-developed research plan. The ideal candidate for the Associate or Full Professor position will have a track record of securing and overseeing extramurally funded grants, producing impactful research results, and engaging in innovative, collaborative research pursuits.

In addition to developing internationally recognized research, teaching excellence is also expected of the successful candidate. The candidate is expected to teach both general and advanced undergraduate courses, as well as graduate courses in biology.

Qualifications:

The candidate should have a relevant PhD, with postdoctoral or other professional experiences in Pharmacology, Chemical Biology, Biochemistry, or a related research field.

· Oversee financial matters to ensure proper utilisation of funds, accountability and internal control

· To approve disbursement of funds for authorised payment of expenses for maintenance and operation of the Nursing Home

· To carry out credit policies to prevent bad debts

Job Description:

• Plan and control the delivery of project design to ensure the achievement of quality, completion and project objectives.
