Why you will love this opportunity as Library officer at Civica
As a Library Officer, you will be supporting the full suite of library duties ranging from acquisitions, cataloguing, and processing of print and digital library resources, promotion and outreach, provision of reference and information services to assist library patrons in their research and learning needs and the day-to-day operations and maintenance of the library.
- Perform library duties effectively according to scope and service levels
- Provide guidance to library staff, as needed, for their daily operations and services
- Maintain and update the library’s website
- Perform collection review including gap analysis and for weeding
- Develop recommended library resource lists including books, ebooks, journals, magazines, databases, etc for purchase
- Liaise with suppliers in the procurement, selection and delivery of print and e-resources
- Propose and/or develop strategic library programmes/initiatives to promote the library resources and services
- Prepare regular reports and annual report with analysis e.g., library usage, loan and collection statistics, reference enquiries etc
- Carry out surveys including annual customer satisfaction survey and report on findings
- Stay abreast of changes in the library and information industry including standards in acquisitions, collection development and cataloguing, and ensure team is equipped with knowledge to advise customers

- A recognized degree in any discipline with at least 3 - 5 years of relevant working experience in managing libraries with preferably a recognized postgraduate qualification in Library and Information Management or Information Science
- Ability to manage the Library and Team and ensure effective provision of library service
- Committed to delivering quality customer service
- Knowledge in librarianship including collection development, organisation and management, digital resources, reference services, research support and circulation.
- Good knowledge on the use of online databases and search skills.
- Effective communication and people skills with the ability to interact well with clients, library users and library vendors. Patience, with attention to details,
- Strong writing and analytical skills.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize to meet users’ needs
- Proficient in word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, and Internet IT skills
