With faculty expertise and research spanning the disciplines of psychology, political science, sociology, and philosophy, SOSS’s research covers key thematic areas such as international development, policy and politics, Southeast Asian studies, social movements, and sustainability. It currently has a PhD programme in Psychology and a professional Master’s in Sustainability, with plans to expand its taught postgraduate offerings into other disciplines as part of its growth plan. Position

The School of Social Sciences (SOSS) invites applications for an Assistant Professor (Education Track) position in Sociology to begin in July 2025. The candidate is expected to teach undergraduate courses across several major areas of sociology.

We seek candidates with a demonstrated record of excellent teaching in undergraduate and/or postgraduate courses in sociology. We are especially seeking a candidate able to teach an outstanding introductory undergraduate course in Sociology. Additionally, we would value the ability to contribute courses on Southeast Asia, Singaporean society, sustainability, community development, and Asian identities. Candidates should also have an established or developing track record of excellent research.

The research support is excellent, and salary and benefits are competitive. The standard teaching load is six units per year and undergraduate classes are capped at no more than 45 students.

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for the day-to-day operations and maintenance of the property, as well as creating a hospitable experience for our guests.
