The Asian Thoracic Oncology Research Group (ATORG) was formed in 2016 to be the central coordinating platform for translational research and multi-centre clinical trials for thoracic malignancies in the Asia Pacific region. It is hosted by National Cancer Centre Singapore.

Training and Support

The incumbent will undertake clinical research at Cornea & External Eye Disease Department and Tissue Engineering team. You will be involved in Data analysis, data collection, manuscript writing and laboratory discussion.

Job Requirements

• Doctor in Optometry, MMed (Ophthalmology) or its equivalent with general ophthalmology and preferably with a fellowship in Neuro-Ophthalmology
• Previous experience with bio-statistical software such as Python, SPSS, Matlab is desirable

Report to Director

Training manager plans, directs and coordinates the training and development activities of the staff of an organisation.

He/she may also design and develop new training modules and supervise all the activities related to the planning and delivery of these programmes.

Reporting to the Head of Department, you will provide therapy intervention such as exercise programmes, modalities treatment and supervision to cancer rehabilitation clients who are undergoing rehabilitation in our Cancer Rehabilitation Centre and affiliated community gyms operated by SCS’ partners. You will work with a multidisciplinary team to manage the rehabilitation journey of cancer patients and survivors who enrolled with SCS cancer rehabilitation services.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Deployed in SCS cancer rehabilitation or partner gyms in the community to provide the following to clients enrolled in cancer rehab services:

• Organise, develop, support, and deliver inclusive and sustainable cancer exercise programme for cancer patients. These patients may have a range of medical conditions impacting both physical and mental health.
• Continued guidance on exercises and use of exercise equipment, optimise benefits and prevent injury.
• Monitor and assess client’s functional status.
• Offer information, advice, and guidance to individuals on exercise and physical activity issues particularly in relation to people with long term cancer treatment side effects or those requiring additional support/ motivation to exercise.
• Conduct group exercise or relevant sports activities to enhance and maintain fitness and well-being of clients.

2. Work closely with therapists to provide feedback on client’s progress and receive instructions on interventions.

3. Assist Head of department in planning and executing appropriate Sport SG and other SCS initiatives.

4. Develop relevant patient education materials for cancer patients.

5. Participate in outreach activities such as World Cancer Day, or cancer exercise related domains such as research.

6. To ensure all administration, inventory, monitoring, and evaluation is completed fully and accurately within deadlines.

Key Requirements:

• Diploma in Healthcare related or equivalent
• Certification as Exercise Physiologist with a relevant organisation (e.g. ACSM, ESSA, CSEP) will be useful

Job Purpose:

• Recognized diploma/degree in Occupational Therapy with 1 to 3 years clinical experience
