The main role of the project planner is to develop project schedule and monitoring the progress of the schedule by directly communicating with team members and reporting the progress of the project to the project manager and suggesting modifications to the project to better enhance the schedule. We are seeking an individual with architectural technical experience for the position of Mechanical Project Engineer at Fortis Construction Pte. Ltd. Singapore operations.  The candidate will work directly with the Mechanical Project Manager and the subcontractors throughout the six-year design and construction phase of the largest multistory data center in Asia (The Project).

Reporting to the Mechanical Project Manager, the candidate will be accountable for ensuring the work required such as submittals, RFI’s, coordination drawings, updating documents, etc are complete, ready and approved for Mechanical Subcontractors to perform their scope of work in the strictest of compliance to the contract documents.  This role is focused on working with the Mechanical Project Manager who is managing the Mechanical Subcontractor field operations and installation details for a large complex data center project, having stringent technical requirements.  

It is expected the candidate will be a very detail-oriented individual with previous experience working as an Mechanical Project Engineer on data center projects and or other complex technical projects.  There will be a significant amount of “hands on” work coordinating approved design documents and ensuring installed work in the field are in compliance with such documents.  The candidate must have strong Emotional Quotient (EQ) skills and be able to relate to and communicate with the client, the Fortis Construction Pte. Ltd. team, subcontractors of all tiers, vendors and immediately establish trust and confidence in his/her ability.

You will have a minimum of 10 years of experience managing MEP projects, with a proven track record of successful project delivery. You will have a strong working knowledge of all aspects of I&C systems and be able to effectively communicate with all project stakeholders.   

• Provide input and support to the Project Lead during the development of project procedures (Project Execution Plan and Construction execution plan). 

• Coordinate with GFC, Local Project Team, Vendors, AE, GC etc. to ensure successful project completion. 

• Regular meeting with all stakeholders (GFC, end users, operations, project, contractors, vendors, etc.) to discuss project progress and issues that may arise during the project execution. 

• Track, prepare and report progress weekly on project progress, risk, schedule, cost for discipline. Overseeing the project team’s work to ensure that they meet deadlines and milestones.

Reporting on testing and inspection results and coordinating for Engineer/ consultant’s sign off /certification of the relevant systems/sub systems as applicable. 

• Coordinate with the Construction manager(s), Engineers, Project Manager, AE ,and GC for Inspection of respective systems /subsystem’s and documentations of functional testing record sheet for disciplines. 

• Coordinate with GC for schedule of GC attendance at site for critical equipment, complex system packages and monitoring the GC presence as per schedule to be prepared and agreed during project execution. 

• Development of relationships with internal and external customers and organizations. 

• Control the schedule and quality of discipline BIM model. 

• Responsible for reviewing the discipline BIM models to find and track clash, space management issues. 

• Responsible for coordination of the BIM models to identify clashes with other disciplines. 

• Consolidate client queries and help to coordinate with GC to resolve the issues.  

• Ensure that all issues and clashes are resolved before GC produces shop drawings. 

• Ensure the GC shop drawing is aligned with BIM model. 

• Ensure GC has used BIM models for constructability studies prior to development of shop drawings. 

• Ensure space management done with client operations team input. 

• Ensure coordinated models are used to help identify EHS issues with all EHS team member input. 

• Ensure the construction is consistent with as-built model. 

• Ensure the required project parameters are filled in by the GC. 

• Collect clash numbers for consolidation and reporting to the client on a weekly basis.

• To provide project management support in expansion and upgrading works for Advario Singapore Terminal

Your Tasks:

• Design and analyse the terminal’s process related infrastructure to improve, upgrade or implement processes
• Prepare calculations, specifications and diagrams for new builds or expansion projects to ensure that a certain quality and legal standard is met.
• Develop conceptual studies for process related infrastructure, prepare engineering documents such as PFDs and Scope of Works descriptions as well as vendor specifications for tenders, evaluate tender submission and provide cost estimation.
• Review and verify contractor’s proposed design according to customers’ requirements, international industrial standards and requirement including compliance with statutory codes and corporate guidelines
• Engage in detailed engineering design for optimization of system with contractors
• Provide engineering support for new and upgrading projects.
• Ensure proper integration of designs during execution, testing and commissioning phases.
• Participate in risk assessment and hazard analysis
• Participate in both internal and external meetings to facilitate the project/proposal of concern.

Your Profile:

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Process Engineering from a reputable university, ideally in Oil & Gas background
• 3 - 5 year’s related experience in chemical engineering for junior position and 8-10 year’s for senior position
• Good understanding of terminal business and its drivers covering the technical, operational and HSSE point of view
• Proficiency with Microsoft office (MS Excel, MS Word, MS Project)
• Other computer skills (SAP, AutoCAD) are a plus
• Prior project management experience is a plus
