To power the business expansion, we have an opportunity for a credible and talented Chief Operating Officer (COO) to join our Company and become a member of the Management Team in Singapore.
Position Overview: The Chief Operating Officer (COO) will play a critical role in ensuring the strategic and operational efficiency of WEnergy Global. The COO will be responsible for overseeing the Company's day-to-day operations, ensuring the successful execution of renewable energy projects, and driving continuous improvement across multiple projects with multiple technologies, in multiple countries with multiple stakeholders all at the same time. This position requires a dynamic and entrepreneurial leader with a deep understanding of the renewable energy sector, strong operational acumen, and a proven track record of managing complex projects and teams in the ASEAN region.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Leadership:
- As a member of the Management Team of the Company, collaborate with the CEO and Heads of Departments to develop and implement the Company’s strategic plan fostering a culture of sustainability, compliance and excellence.
- Possess a keen, adaptive understanding and working experience of business environments especially in the Asia-Pacific, and the energy and industrial sector.
- Identify opportunities, including partnerships for project execution and the use of emerging new technologies, to ensure competitive advantage of operations.
2. Operational Management:
- Oversee the daily operations of the Company, including planning, engineering, procurement, construction, operations, monitoring and maintenance.
- Ensure efficient and effective execution of renewable energy projects, from inception to completion based on thorough data analytics and field observations.
- Implement best practices in project management and quality assurance, including quality control, process improvement, risk management, and safety and health management.
3. Financial Oversight:
- Develop and manage project budgets and the annual operating budget, ensuring financial sustainability and profitability.
- Monitor financial performance, analyze key metrics, and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Optimize resource allocation to maximize operational efficiency and project returns.
4. Team Leadership:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of professionals across various functions by leveraging unique strengths, skills and motivations.
- Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment that promotes communication, innovation and accountability.
- Develop and enhance learning and innovation culture with positive feedback loops towards a strong organizational culture and operating environment.
5. Stakeholder Engagement:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including key suppliers, contractors, government agencies, development financing institutions, private investors, regulatory bodies, partners, and customers.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards. Monitor industry trends and regulatory changes, and advise potential impacts and necessary adjustments to the Company's operations and execution strategies.
6. Sustainability and Innovation:
- Champion sustainability initiatives and integrate environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles into the Company's operations.
- Promote the adoption of cutting-edge technologies and innovative solutions to drive operational excellence and competitive advantage.
- Manage the Research & Innovation Agenda of the Company to integrate technical excellence and innovation in project planning, design, implementation & operations.
Competences & Capabilities:
The successful Candidate will demonstrate the following capabilities and qualifications:
- Master’s degree in engineering, industrial-business administration, or a related field; a combination of engineering with business administration is preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in the renewable energy sector, with at least 5 years in a senior role.
- Proven track record of successfully managing small and large-scale renewable energy projects and complex operations, including hybrid power systems and smart power grids.
- Strong financial acumen and experience in budget management, financial analysis, and operations planning with a strategic view.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification, Six Sigma, and Operations Excellence and Safety Management or equivalents.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, nurturing people for growth.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing market conditions.
- Demonstrated commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship.

Location
The position is located at the WEnergy Global Headquarters in Singapore. Travelling within ASEAN countries, including remote sites, will be required from time to time.
