Responsibilities
· Reporting to CEO for all Insurance, Ship Management agreement, Ship registration and legal matters.
· Demonstrated experience in handling Ship Registration with various International Ship Registries such as Hong Kong, Singapore, Marshall Islands, Liberia, Panama, Isle of Man and others as may be required.
· Working with Owners and legal entities, for registration of vessel coming into management of the company and matters related to Owner’s sale and purchase of managed vessels. Familiar with ship mortgaging and Bareboat chartering requirements.
· Manage H&M (Hull and Machinery), PNI (Protection and Indemnity), FD&D (Freight Demurrage & Defence) and other insurance covers for the company’s managed fleet. Follow up on insurance claims with relevant insurers.
· Coordinate with various Crewing, Technical and other departments to collate documentation to file H&M and Crew related P&I claims with respective insurers of managed fleet.
· Maintain cordial relationship with Marine Insurance Brokers to obtain quotes and placement of Insurance Cover when necessary.
· Check & approve invoices from Ship Registries, Insurance Brokers and others related to services procured.
· Arrange Ship Management agreements for new take over vessels. Knowledgeable about BIMCO Shipman.
· Arrange COFR, ICB and other locally required Certificates as required for trading in USA and various other countries.
· Assist Technical and Marine department in dealing with EU-ETS and any other such carbon tax systems.
· Liaising with company Lawyers for any legal issues.
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
· Diploma/Degree from well-recognised Institute/University in Law, Maritime Business or Shipping.
· Degree with any other discipline from well-recognised university and long experience with relevant job can be considered.
· At least 4 years relevant working experience in Ship Registration / Marine Insurance claims handling preferably with a Shipowner / Ship Management Company.
· An independent hands-on person with ability to communicate effectively written and verbal with Flag State, Ship Owners, insurers, peers and other outside contacts.
· Resilient, possesses a sense of urgency and work well under demanding timeline. Willing to work outside normal working hours, if required.
· Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Excel).
· A good team player for working in a multinational environment.
· Strong negotiation skills.
· Knowledge about BIMCO Ship Management Agreement, CBA and MLC.
· Take active part in the Health, Safety, Quality, Environmental, Energy and Cyber Security Culture within the Company.
