The IDO unit develops strategies and programmes to strengthen the business competitiveness of the Singapore design sector in the global market. We achieve this through supporting the building of unique value propositions with deep research, augmenting business capabilities, and profiling for internationalisation opportunities.

Responsibilities

This role reports to the Deputy Director of IDO and your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Focal strategies to guide industry development:

• Lead and oversee the development of strategies to grow and develop the Singapore design ecosystem to be globally unique, relevant and competitive. This includes support for design businesses to capture new opportunities in the future of sustainable design and design for care, enabled by emerging technologies. Other focal areas may surface as the team engages the industry. Your starting focus will be on sustainable design.

Internationalisation and Profiling:

Job Description:

1) Sales Leadership

· Develop and implement effective sales strategies and plans for the APAC WSO and lead deployment strategies to optimize sales effectiveness on-property, including achievement of individuals’ sales and team goals. This involves analyzing market trends in the different key source markets, identifying opportunities, and defining sales targets and objectives, in line with global objectives.

· Develop worldwide sales strategic growth plan to capture outbound travel market share potential in China – as a priority and India.

· Assist in developing a strategic sales plan for the region and translate it into specific and measurable segments. Collaborate with property sales leader to ensure successful implementation by the sales team.

· Provide sales leadership and ongoing guidance for all hotel sales activities, encompassing transient, group, and F&B/catering as relevant, both operational and during pre-opening/conversions in the defined territory.

· Collaborate with Director of Capabilities Uplift to assess sales skill levels in WSO and on property sales managers, and deliver relevant training programs.

2) Leadership & Oversight

· Directly responsible for overseeing the APAC WSO personnel. This role is responsible for ensuring all these roles are working effectively to deliver the set strategy and optimize sales processes in line with globally set frameworks & best practices.

3) Revenue Generation

· Responsible for coming up with strategies and ideas that drive net-revenue growth in line with our Corporate and Commercial Strategy and driving sales effectiveness (i.e., better conversion). This includes providing leadership and guidance to support WSO team members and their ability to meet annual business planning objectives.

4) Cross-team Collaboration

· To deliver the above accountabilities, this role is expected to work in partnership with several teams across the organization. · Prior to the appointment of Director of Marketing for new properties in the APAC region, provide direct sales support to begin building sales pipeline.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Art Studios and Storerooms

• Liaise with Estate for removal of trash, cleanup of major spaces
• Organize storage space and dejunk the unnecessary
• Report breakdown of equipment/facilities to IT and Estate, oversee repairs

2. Administrative and Office Work

• Manage SRC Art Gallery (On spotlights, air-con and screenings for visits), Open and Close Gallery (within office hours only)
• Liaise between art suppliers, art teachers and Finance – Processing of invoice payments and documentation
• Updating art materials inventory list
• Liaise with IT and AV with checks and updating of inventory list
• Booking of transport for external gallery and museum visits

3. Supervision of Teaching and Learning

• Keeping updated stock list (be it liaising with art teachers or physical checks)
• Assist in sourcing of materials, ordering of materials, liaising with delivery and packing
• Archiving of artworks on display in school, keeping track of inventory list of artworks on digital platform
• Packing and organizing of delivered art materials into the respective storerooms and studios
• To provide close supervision when students are handling machines or engage in dangerous activities
• To check that all students vacate art room at the end of each day, all doors are secured and ensure that no student is able to assess freely.

4. Materials & Equipment

• Oversee loan of equipment to students, keeping an updated inventory of equipment movement
• Keep an updated inventory, labeling equipment, coming up with instructional/ safety labels
• Accountable for usage and returning of tools and equipment during activities
• Accountable for maintenance of equipment such as cameras and lenses

5. Digital archival/ Resource preparation

• Simple documentation/ photographing of art works
• Archiving photographs/ artworks / articles digitally
• Maintenance of AEP website
• Assist in the production of art learning resources. E.g. scanning

6. Installation & Display

• Assist in setup of student’s works for exhibitions (Painting / construction of walls, liaising with the IT, AV and Estate for the wiring of electrical cables, spotlights and installation of works)
• Oversee framing and installation of artworks in the SRC Art Gallery and within school compound (Liaise with external vendor)
• Artist Statement Labels

7. Safety Officer

• Assist Safety Committee and EC/ Aesthetics in the role as safety officer for all art studios.
• Maintenance of First Aid Kit in all art studios
• Work with Estate on checking of all fire extinguishers
• Maintenance of Kiln and Printing Press (Liaise with external vendor)
• Maintenance of cleanliness in all art studios and gallery

Roles & Responsibilities

Strategic & Corporate Planning:

• Develop and coordinate the Gallerys strategic planning process and reviews with management and Board, updating strategic plans in response to evolving organisational needs and external factors
• Monitor industry trends and competitive landscapes to inform strategic decision-making.
• Work with Gallerys Research team to support informed decision-making and strategy formulation through market research and analysis, to identify trends, opportunities, and risks that may impact the organisations strategic direction.
• Translate and communicate the Gallerys strategy across functions and business units, aligning processes, resource-planning and department goals with overall strategy, and driving organisational change and synergies
• Collaborate closely with the Visual Arts Cluster leadership and engage other key stakeholders (internal and external) to gather input on planning initiatives and align the Gallerys strategies and action plans within the broader context of the arts and culture ecosystem.

Enterprise Risk Management:

• Coordinate a periodic comprehensive review of the Gallerys enterprise risk management framework and regular risk assessments to identify potential threats and opportunities that may impact the achievement of strategic objectives and report risk movements
• Effectively communicate risk considerations to key stakeholders, ensuring a shared understanding of potential impacts on strategic outcomes.
• Collaborate with senior management and department heads to develop and implement risk mitigation strategies and action plans aligned with strategic goals
• Integrate risk management considerations into the formulation and implementation of the strategic planning process, ensuring that organisational objectives are aligned with a comprehensive understanding of potential and inter-related risks
• Continuously monitor progress and make necessary adjustments to corporate plans to attain organisational success

Corporate Governance & Board Secretariat Oversight:

• Maintain transparency, accountability, and ethical practices of the organisation's activities with high governance and regulatory standards
• Centralise corporate governance functions across the Gallery to deliver high standards and consistent practices in secretariat functions, ensuring effective communication between the Board and executive leadership
• Collaborate with the Board to assess its effectiveness and implement strategies to enhance the efficiency of board meetings, decision-making processes and overall governance structure
• Proactively monitor and stay informed about industry trends and governance advancements within the non-profit sector
• Evaluate the applicability of new governance practices and technologies to enhance the effectiveness of board functions

Social Impact, Performance Tracking and Management:

• Collaborate with key stakeholders to define and enhance the Gallerys social impact strategy, driving the integration of social impact considerations into strategic planning processes.
• Collaborate closely with the in-house research team to align social impact metrics with the organisation's strategic objectives and mission.
• Establish and oversee systems for tracking the Gallerys overall performance against key performance and social impact indicators, and collaborate with internal teams to deliver C-Suite dashboard analysis to drive data-driven decision-making
• Prepare performance and risk management reporting to management and board, analysing performance data to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement for impact and organisational effectiveness
• Develop and support the implementation of knowledge management systems that capture insights and facilitate learning initiatives to disseminate best practices and enhance the organisation's impact over time.

Strategic Legal Oversight:

• Collaborate with in-house Legal counsel to provide legal guidance and support to all departments within the Gallery, and to ensure legal compliance in all organisational activities.
• Maintain open lines of communication with Legal team to stay informed about ongoing legal matters, regulatory changes, and potential risks.
• Stay abreast of legal developments relevant to the organisation's operations.
• Work closely with internal stakeholders to ensure legal considerations are integrated into strategic planning and decision making to safeguard the organisations mission and reputation
• Advocate for ethical conduct with the organization, ensuring that legal and ethical standards are upheld in all activities

• Degree in Museum Studies, Arts Administration or a related field.
• Minimum of 10 years of relevant work experience
• Experience in arts and cultural administration, including proficiency in cultural and public policy matters, with demonstrated expertise in strategic and corporate planning.
• Prior experience working within a non-profit organisation is highly desirable.
• A nuanced understanding of the arts ecosystem, particularly within the context of Singapore and international cultural landscapes, is preferred.
• Excellent people management skills with a demonstrated ability to lead and inspire teams. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, fostering collaboration and effective communication within and beyond the organisation.
• Display a strong commitment to the continuous professional development of staff members. A track record of fostering a culture of learning and growth within the organisation.
• Proficient in strategic thinking and adept at translating abstract concepts into actionable plans, with a proven track record of contributing to the development and execution of strategic initiatives that align with organisational goals.
• Sound understanding of legal and governance principles pertinent to non-profit organisations, and familiar with regulations and compliance requirements specific to charities.
